Install Rear Disc Brake - how to!?
« on: July 07, 2010, 01:51:22 PM »
I'm excited to have received my new Magic Pie!! But, I am not a bike expert... Can anyone help me understand that weird looking black piece that goes with the disc on the left side of the rear wheel? How do I mount that thing? How does it work? What all do I have to connect to it?

CLICK ME you will find a youtube video on the topic.

Also make sure your bike has the capability to use disc brakes, if you havent had them before you might be in for a challenge.

ROFL! That is the best video ever! Thanks!

Hopefully you understand, I was looking for something specific to the stuff I got from GM. One would think that if you are told how to screw on a freewheel, and connect same-colored connectors that instructions for a disc brake installation would be somewhere in the documentation too.

However, I'll post here if I have further problems (doubt it) after I look at the search results you gave me. :)

EDIT: Upon further investigation, it seems most/some bikes have a place to mount the caliper, but mine does not... This should be interesting. I'd appreciate any advice out there...

You are not required to use the disc, you will find that the pie itself will slow you down quite a bit. I have two pies on my bike and I hardly need to use the brakes, the pies slow me down.
