My SP4 Always needs to be plugged in to work!
« on: August 21, 2015, 01:49:32 PM »
Hey everyone,

Something odd has been happening lately. So if I unplug my battery from the motor or shut off the power connection then turn it back on, the motor appears to enter into some sort of reset mode. I have to pedal a few km and go very, very light on the throttle, easing into acceleration to get it to start working again. It's almost as if someone wiped out the controller's brain and it's trying to re-learn how to operate. After like 3-4 km, it will behave like normal again and work at full power.

So far, the only solution I have to this is basically just keep it constantly plugged in and powered on. Not that it really is an issue, but it gets frustrating if I need to d/c the battery to do any work on the bike. Has anyone ever had this happen and if so is there a remedy?

Thanks!

Hi Brendon,

If it has been used in wet conditions (riding through rivers and streams etc.) or left out in the rain, water can sometimes get into the controller or even the battery, and cause strange behaviour too.
