16 beeps from VEC300-48
« on: June 01, 2020, 04:05:30 PM »
Hi I have 16 beeps coming from  VEC300 controler on boat motor.
Also I can not connect to this controler.
I have second motor and controller and I am connecting to the second without a problem, so windows\driver\software\com port\cable\settings are ok.
So sixteen beeps... anyone please any suggestions?

Big THANK YOU for the link.
How I miss this thread ?!? I read the forum for days before posting.
Its raining today, so cant go try staff.

Same problem as other thread and setup so far:

I have no main power connected.
But motor hall sensors are connected throttle and all the other staff are connected on the big connector in the middle.
When I connect the USB programming lead between my computer and the controller programming port, the controller beeps once, then short pause, then repeatedly beeps 16 times.
Can not connect to program the controller.
Will try to disconnect everything totally - and revert to defaults if I am able to connect to it.

Think finally found it : different pin out on the new fresh vec300 from china.
Look at PINK e-lock wire at cable harness.
It still beeping. Still cant connect.

Did you try to connect to the controller with the 30 pin connector plug disconnected, or did you just unplug everything from the various connectors on the controller harness?

Does it only beep when the USB cable is connected or does it "repeatedly beeps 16 times" every time the controller is powered up?

I don't know whether the new controller is supposed to be wired differently or whether the harness connector has inadvertently been assembled incorrectly. :-\

Yes I did tried to connect with big connector disconnected - same beeping.
Tried with only hall sensors only connected. With trottle only connected...
Tried 3.3V first: all different connected and disconnected, after that everything at 5v ...
With power only from the cable and main power off /the first motor is connecting this way/ and with main power on.
After that switched cable harness with the old one and everything again.

Its beeping only when programming cable is connected I thing.

Now I am tired and frustrated...

I fully understand your frustration, but I don't know what else to suggest.  :(

If your programming cable is not a genuine GM item, I'm wondering whether it could be causing your problem even though it connects to the other controller correctly.

I'm guessing that you must have contacted GM China as you appear to have already received a "new fresh vec300 from China". :-\

I finally got myself an multicet , and I think I figured the problem up.
I am using an arduino and getting 5v voltage from the arduino board, and 5v voltage is only 4.89 volts. May be this under voltage is the reason to not be able to connect to the new controller.
The original programming cable is found : no problems connecting. it gives straight 5 volts.

New problems are may be for another tread if admins decide:
The beeping is traced to maybe wrong throttle voltage... but still not completely sure.
Trying to figure out potentiometer options for boat throttle.
Switching from "hyperbola" to "linear" does nothing at first glance.
Motor is working in reverse from 2.0 to 1.0 volts and forward from 2.2 to 2.6v
Its going faster in reverse and slowly forward, this is another thing to figure out.

Yep that is for now.
