MPIII Throttle control

Hi all,

I am using two MPIII front motors to drive a modified "Segway".  Thumb throttles are fine for now but I was going intending to add some more personalized control features using my own signals.

My main concern is throttle control.  If I inject a signal up from the throttle pin to ground, I get no output from the motor.  When I hook the thumb throttles back up, everything works fine.

Does anyone know the signal range or has anyone tried to control the mpIIIs throttle/brake/reverse using something other than twist/thumb throttles?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi andto the forum.

The throttle control is achieved by using a variable signal voltage of between 0.8V and 4.5V.
(Motor starts at ~1.25V and Maximum power is reached at ~3.25V)

The GM throttle uses a hall sensor to vary the voltage according to the actual throttle position, but a 10k potentiometer (variable resistor) should also provide variable throttle control.

The Brake, Cruise and Reverse functions simply use a switch to ground out the respective signal wire to operate the required function.

Ensure you have the polarity right.  neg to ground, pos (signal) to throttle pin.
