My first motor was a crystallite something, it was made in 3 versions, from low torque high speed and high torque to low speed.
I paid $200 at a bicycle shop to install the motor from 26" rim to 28" rim, and they bended the spokes real good as you can see...
Orininally it was installed at 36V, but no fun. Then I installed a 4th SLA 12V battery, and what do you know, fun fun fun at 48V!
Now, I never used torque arms, only some sheet metal square washers intended for 350W but not for 750W. So I tightened and tightened the nuts, and as you can see, the treads are damaged... Soft steel, way to much tightening from my side.
But, the death was putting wrong polarity on the controller, so I killed it... controller I assume was 36V, but I used 48V on it. Think it used 10-15A or so. Now, the nice part was that the motor was dead silent! Just an extremely low mmmmmmm sound.
Now, my idea for the old motor is to use it as a windmill, since the cost of a controller and the damaged treads makes it dead as is...
Thinking of a 3 phase rectifier to DC, then charging a 12V battery... in case of apocalypse I can enjoy electrical light when windy
What else can I use it for...?
