new project 20" trike need info

Hi there huys,

i'm riding an MP III with external controller for about 3 months now without a problem.
But I'm thinking about starting a new project.
I would like to order an 20" cast MP for a trike, but I was wondering. does anyone has experience with a 20" wheel?
What speed will it support with a 48V20A battery and a standard external Golden motor controller?
just wondering, for now I got a mountainbike with a 26" wheel and a 48V10A battery wich wil get me to 43 km/H with pedaling.
i would like the trike to go about 36 -40 km/h max but mostly I would like to ride about 32 to 35 km/h.
i was thinking a 20A battery will be needed because of the smaller rimsize. I can get to work now with just 1 load but no further.

as the MP Series controlls the rpm via the voltage it's pretty simple to calculate:
'newkmh"=20/26*'kmh@26'=33km/h
As Advantage comes the 26/20 higher torque.
I own a modified Tripendo with two DMS2050 front drives integrated. Lots of fun!

Nice formula Sam, I like that.

The only issue is 33kph is for a 36 volt battery and 26 inch rim. 44kph is for a 48 volt battery and 26 inch rim. So just replace 33 with 44 and the result should be correct.

BTW Thomas, voltage is speed, amps is distance. Raising the amps does not make it go faster.

Hi Gary,
the formula is right; the 33km/h is not the speed at 48V and 26" rim, but the result at 20" rim. The 44km/h is in my calculation the constant "kmh@26" read kilometer per hour at 26" rim.

and Gary, I know that voltage is speed and amps distance, thats why I want to get an 20A battery.
the bike i'm riding now can get me about 33 km with pedaling assistance (against the wind only 32km/h and 33km distance, with wind in my back about 40/kmh and about 36km distance).
so since the rim is smaller, I thought i'd need a larger battery size since the motor wil make more rpm to get to same speed as the 26" version.
not sure i'm explaining it clearly.
