My turn to complain about USB cable...

I have had a prokit-901 for over 2 years now, and I am happy as a clamp with it.
But nevermind that!

My old mum have now finally joined the e-bike revolution with a brand new MagicPie frontwheel and 36V, 16Ah battery.
She haven't tested the bike yet, but I have; and it works fine, except the regen brake... It's too hard for frontwheel usage, and the regen cuts out after 1/2 a second in higher speeds. Now; i've only tested this with a full battery, so it might be that the regen behaves when the battery starts to deplete more...

Nevertheless - I also bought the usb cable for the Magic Pie (internal), and i've just tested it with no success... 

I connected the cable to the bike, then the usb-plug to the computer (running Vista). then I started the pi200 program, downloaded from GM China.
A dialogbox pops up and says something in chinese (i'm guessing it tells me to make sure the cable are plugged in?  ); I press ok, and the program starts.
Then I press the Connect button, and it says 'Connect Success'...

What happens next is that the pc starts to beep once a second, and I can hear a faint Click from the buzzer inside the Magic Pie...

No matter what I do next, the pc continue to beep no matter which settings I adjust, or buttons I press... Except - pressing Disconnect gives me the message 'GetConfig ok', and then Connect Success again... The pc continues to beep...

Disconnecting the cable or exiting the program stops the beeping...

Anyone any ideas?!

(I do have som questions about the cable connections too, but I doesn't remember which just now... only that I connected all colored plugs to the corresponding colors, and with that; pressing the horn button makes the battery indicator go black (shorting it?!)

I have tested my USB cable and have reprogram. my multiples external controlleur (PI200-E) a number of time with no problem...

remeber to use "disconnect" and "getconfig" to valid the reprogrammable process...like the video.

No, the example in the video shows how it's supposed to work.

Here, it continues to beep each second, even when I do nothing. ;(

I got my MagicPie engine yesterday, and I get exactly the same error as you Cornelius.
 The computer beeps continuously I also can not get any settings made??. I have tested with two different computers & operating systems such as W7 & Xp but there was no difference.
 So help what I can do more ...?

Have you all made sure the battery is disconnected while programming ?

I didn't disconnect the battery the first time I tested, but the key switch was off; the consequent tests I had the powerplug disconnected...

If this is an external controller try only having the programming cable into the controller and nothing else plugged into the controller. If it is an internal Pie, try having the battery unplugged while you conect to it.

I looked at your video. The cable seems to be plugged in but is it all the way in? Also if you examine the pins in the plug are any of them bent? Other then that I am out of suggestions.

I was expecting that comment regarding the plug, but didn't say anything, because my plug from the usb cable doesn't seem to go all the way in either, but it is. (It's the edge on the plastic that's further down than the cable harness plug...)

I've just sent a letter to Tom; pleading for help..

Has there been any progress than Cornelius?.

It was a coincidence that many suffered the same problem.
 It sounds like something the factory connected something wrong.
 Does anyone know if there is a USB to RS232 converter inside the interface cable? If not, then we could connect measure the connections between USB & DIN connector, & compare with one that we know works.
 The option, to any of us open up the hood & compare them soldered connections with a picture of a working wheel.

yes there is a USB to TTL converter inside the usb casing.

Also a microcontroller from usb that communicates with the wheel.

Connections are:

5v+
Gnd-
Yellow (rx)
Cruise wire

I have established that the cruise wire is used as some kind of enable pin, I mean when you click connect a string is received and the cruise wire goes high (5v)

Yellow wire is bi-directional

Does the usb cable for the Magic Pie internal use 3 or 4 wires? (+, -, data; or +, -, send, recv.?)

If it uses 3, I'm guessing the cable are an usb-i2c converter; if 4, then usb-rs232...

(I'm talking about the Pie-side of the cable; not the usb side...)
