washer placement on rear hub install
« on: April 17, 2011, 10:06:36 PM »
If this has been covered somewhere I apologize but I couldn't find it.  I am installing a 28'' rear wheel 1000watt motor.  Does one washer have to be positioned on the inside of the wheel ?   My instinct says yes  but this ebike "padwan" wants to hear from the masters.  Thanks

Yes, there should be a washer on either side of the dropouts as shown here:

I was so busy finding that diagram that I forgot to correct your spelling, it is "padawan" not "padwan". ;)

And don't forget, the most important date in Star Wars is only a couple of weeks away - "May the 4th be with you!"

Thanks Alan
I was off yesterday so it was finish the buld day.  I made sure that my rear hub was mounted according to the diagram.  Before I saw the diagram I wasn't sure how the tabbed washers were to be fitted but it makes perfect sense now.  I have been doing the build in my basement so yesterday I connected everything.  Power was full, hit the horn a few times and tweeked the throttle.  It definetly wants to go.  I will take it  out for a test ride in the next couple of days.
Thanks again.
