LFP-4820 48V/20AH Charging Jack

Has anyone bought/seen the 48V LiFePO4 pack from GM?

I need to know if it can be disassembled easily.

The charging jack is unacceptable and will have to be changed.

It should be on the end of the case, not the top.

But, and I cannot stress this enough,
it cannot be the same cord that plugs 110V/220V
into almost every computer in the world
.

If I can change it myself then it's on my shopping list,
if not, then factory retrofit is going to be required.

Sorry I have no answer for Elimer other than "they don't look easy to mod".

I am interested in why it cant be CONN AC PLUG?  Those computer plugs you don't want!

I use one and its good.  Do you have an expensive charger that you don't want to alter?

Elmer probably doesn't want to risk electrocuting himself or destroying a battery pack or even burning down his home by accidentally plugging in a power lead instead of the charging lead.

If you have loads of different leads scattered across your bench it would be all too easy to pick up the wrong plug by mistake.

If the pack had a built in charger designed to take the higher voltages, it would be a different matter.

Alan is very close to hitting the nail on the head.

The plug that goes into the charger is the same one that
goes into the battery pack.


As an e-bike advocate I quite often lend my bike
to friends.  I also carry the charger with me.

Those two things make it a virtual certainty that
someone will get the idea to charge the battery
'directly' from the wall plug.

I know they use to make a duct-tape pack.
I have the 36V20AH duct-tape pack now, but
the 48V one disappeared from the site.

The question was really aimed to Yao or Tom.

Surprising early days saw a lot of new commers to sport jumping ahead before reading and plugged their packs into the wall.  I don't see it any more.

Though you want to discuss a standard to go by, look into the RV camper van and trailer style of connections.  Auto, plant and heavy transportation industry engineering would be a good place to look too.
