Hooking up Magic Pie 4 controller
« on: October 07, 2015, 05:42:20 PM »
I took my controller off to attempt to fix broken wire.  How do I plug green, blue, and  yellow wires? †here are three terminals A B C. Thanks

Here is a pic of my controller.  I found an old thread with a different looking controller in which Alan listed 5 possible combinations. Just figured someone should know order.

Good news maybe.  I hooked the wires up one way, and a loud noise came out.  I tried another, and the wheel spun. I figure I fixed it. Put it back together, even with GM's stripped screws.  Then I tried it out, and the wheel went backwards.  So I figure it works, maybe. I just need to hook it up right. And I won't even try again until someone gives me a heads up.

Yes it does.  Thanks very much.  I watched another video Alan had suggested and it had a different controller.  SO here I go, and thanks again!

I tried it and the motor still goes backward. :'( I have tried several combinations. and to make matters worse I am doing this with the bike upside down and the break disconnected, which was engaging the regen brake, preventing the wheel from working. SO I may have fixed it and not even known.  I am pretty frustrated and cannot understand why I cannot find any info on this.  I am going drinking, and if that don't work, well I got a hammer. ;)

So I think I fixed it, but I twisted the throttle and the torque pulled the wheel out of the dropouts. But that's a good sign.  I went to hook the MP5 to another bike, but- I lost a part for the fork, the old kind.  ARRGH!  At least I learned something. :)

I am at a loss.  Now it works in spurts and the throttle will not shut off.  I think it is time for the hammer, becasue I am done with this crap

The hammer has not come out, but man has the frustration.  I put the MP on another bike, and erratic wattage, but no error codes on LCD display.  I really would like some information on how to wire the controller?  says mp 4 v 5 3.1

Here are the connections on my original MP4 controller:

Unfortunately, your controller looks quite different, so there is no guarantee that the phase wires will be connected in the same order.

Kasen got back to me and sent me the phase wires for my controller. The combination was yellow, blue, green; A<B<C.  I'll see if I can attach the jpg he sent me.  Consequently, I hooked up the controller the correct way and it appears to work, but I had some strange pulsing phantom pulsing of the throttle at first when I pressed the mode button.  Seems to work okay, except that it maxes out wattage sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't.  I wonder if shorted out the pedal assist wires?

Anyway, I am glad to at least know that the controller works! I will update later and see how it goes.
