48 Volt Settings
« on: April 13, 2014, 12:57:35 PM »
Hello I am buying a new 48V battery (upgrading from 24V) and I am wondering what to set my continuous battery setting to and my peak battery setting to.  I'm just looking for regular settings I don't want to strain the battery.

Thank you.

What 48V battery are you buying? How many amp hours (Ah)?

If it is any of the GM LifePO4 packs, I believe they are rated for 3C. Multiply the amp hours by the C-rate and that will give you the max amps the battery can safely deliver.

Have a look at the photo of the battery on this page:

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Yes the battery is 15AH.  So would I set the continuous setting to 45 Amps?  Also what should the peak amp setting value be?

Thank you.

You are welcome. What kind of motor are you running? The MP3 will max out at 35Amps Cont. and ~50amps peak. I would search around here for the default settings for your motor.

For the record, I have my Magic Pie 2 (internal Controlles) set to 30amps cont. and 50 peak.

Hello again I appreciate the help.  Yes the motor is the MP3.  I am looking forward to riding as soon as my new battery arrives.  I will use  35 amps for continuous and 50 amps for peak.

Cheers!
