LED on Motor Controller blinks and motor doesnt start
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:21:52 AM »
Hi,

I am using HPC 300H  Motor controller and 48V 5KW motor. I have driven around 1200 Km on this setup.
Yesterday, I was driving at speed of 50KMPH, suddenly I had to apply brakes. ( Brake switch is not connected/unused). After that motor doesnt start.

LED on Motor Controller stays on, when I switch on. The moment I press throttle, LED on Motor Controller blinks. Motor doesnt rotate.

Can you please give me some direction on how to approach this trouble shooting.
Also, How to reset the controller by hard wire?( as I don't have cable to connect to my computer).

Thank you,
naveen

I try first hot wire power. Red and black touch them lightly after removing from the throttle, if the motor runs it's then isolated to the throttle. That's what I'd try first. I decouple the chain if in your bike as it's full power straight away makes me jump !!  ;)

Glen, I hope you are not suggesting touching the red and black battery wires together as this can be very dangerous:

I would also not recommend connecting the red and black wires from the throttle together as this would short out the +5V supply to the throttle hall sensor which could damage the controller, unless the throttle on your controller is wired differently to this wiring diagram.

Naveen, I strongly recommend contacting David at GM (wyh@goldenmotor.com) and ask for his help with diagnosing this fault.
