There are some cheap ones from Hobbyking that works good for checking your battery level. They should be just as easy or even easier to install than a Cycle Analyst. The only problem is that the shunt is internal on these units so if you want it on your handlebar you need to run the power cables from the battery, up to the handlebar and then down to the motor. But mounted on the battery or close to it you can check it when you stop and it should be very easy and clean to install. You will need a separate cycle computer for speed and distance measuring.
More info here

There is also a competing product to the Cycle Analyst, the Speedict. It is slightly cheaper, but it relies on your phone as a display.

I was used turnigy watt meter for long time. First I was using it within my battery bag and checked measured Ah after ride, but I wanted to mount in to handlebar so I could see live view of current flowing from battery, so I decided to remove the shunt from unit and mount it to the battery leads and it worked very well. You can find how to do it on ES forum very easily. Only problem I had was that turnigy had poor contrast on display so it was difficult to read it during ride.

I switched to speedict unit and that is great and it has very cool effect on ebike:-)
