Hello,
I had great hopes of fine tuning the Magic Pie 3 with software. So far I only got the old software and the original mp3 software readings are: 25A max continuous and 70A peak!  I tried to change the continuous max current to 30A but in no case I was able to draw more than 25A  with a Ping 48V battery.

I am wondering if or under which circumstances the advertised new max currents for Magic Pie 3 are achievable? Say if I were twice as heavy would the max go up?

Would there be a shunt in the internal controller whose resistance  I could decrease to increase the peak max? I am happy with the max speed of 29 mi/h though the acceleration is not that great as I am having a 29er (actually thick 700c tires).

Thank you
arek

Hi What AH is the ping pack?

Reducing you bag size height of tire will give you a little more torque.  Im not going to advise the shunt mod unless there is something wrong with it..  There is a better power mod on thse forums.

Id did the shunt mod with no consequences, but with the MP1.2 internal controller it minimally aided my takes offs and drew too much current mid range alleceration.

Do you have an idea haw many amps you bke draws from the initial take off?

Some of the internal Magic controllers are a little on the under soldered side, and a lot of the MP2 controllers were terrible at take offs.

Bring it on

Hello Les,
Yes, on the take off I get around 25A (at 52V), no matter what I do. I weigh 140lb and my  bike with the battery is about 73lb.
Has anyone seen advertised continuous 35A on Magic Pie 3?

Thank you
arek

it is possible that the internal impedance of the battery will not allow more than the 28 amps you are seeing.  (Key word, possible. ) Lead Acid batteries don't have this problem, but newer chemistries and materials have shown some strange behaviors.

I think my battery is capable of at least 45A before cutting off (ping 48V 15ah). The internal resistance of the battery is quite small around 0.15 Ohms. So probably this would be the controller, especially that it cuts exactly at a whole number 25A.
