Proud of my new Battery Pack
« on: December 09, 2008, 05:59:36 AM »
I got my G.M. 36V20AH LiFePO4 pack the other day.

It came well packed and in good shape. (Yay.)

The only downer (Philip) is that it did not come with
the male power plug for my bike, so I had to choose
between making a new plug and destroying my
Lead Acid pack.  I elected to go to a new plug.

I went to the local Harbor Freight store and got this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=36870
on sale for $10USD.

I bought a length of flat aluminum, and one of square aluminum, then
cut, riveted, and bolted them to the case so that the flat parts hook into
a cheap bicycle rack and the square stock lifts the whole thing
up off the rack. (This allows me to mount panniers on the rack.)

A simple pin holds the rack down and locks it in forward.

I also selected a 220V plug for the motor power.  This is very
unusual here so it is unlikely someone will plug something in other than
the motor.  I also included a switch rated at 30A to switch between
charge/off/run.

Happy Happy

Ive heard om the grape vine things in the GM Lifepo4 range are looking up...  So I think you should be proud for a few thousand cycles man...

Please keep us informed on its journey through its life.

Wow 20 ah lifepo4s.. :D

Im stuck with 19 kg of lead.

Oh BTW SLA fans, Ritar have some good batts out selling under EV series or RT series. The 20 and 24 ah perform well giving 200 amp max @ 10 ohm internal resistance and I am almost convinced these  SLA's are GM compatible.  Wow that's a first :-P.

Not lifepo4's by no means, but in 3 months if these babies are still pumpin like they are I'll create a thread..

God speed e-lmer.

Bring it on

This kind of battery doesn't have battery box.

Maybe that is more better than other Lifepo4 batteries.

Battery box is very easy to buy, yours is very good, not expensive
