MP4 controller and wires damaged due to axle spinning
« on: June 17, 2015, 05:44:45 PM »
hello to all

im george aleyropoulos and im electronics technician from greece
today I reseived my first Magic Pie 4
first I must say that all worked well but (my fault ) after some kilometers the
wheel dispaced and destroy the wires and makes a short circuit just some
centimeters after the controller.
i fix the wires  but nothing happens and the leds not light up. when I connect the
battery I hear something like a relay inside the controller.i
disassemble the controller and when the battery is connected  the red
led inside the controller starts to flash for 14 times then after one
second starts again for 14 times.i assume this 14 times is an indicator
of the problem.
i had send a message direct to golden motor ( with a video )but I don't know if they have technical support and I cant see a new controller to buy at their site.(if the problem is the controller)

is there anyone that can help me?

thank you for your time.

Hi George andto the forum.

I suggest you email David at GM China and see if he can tell you what the 14 flashes mean.

If the battery LEDs on the throttle are not lighting up there must be a problem with either the thin battery feed wire or the thin ground wire in either the motor harness, the control harness or the throttle itself.

As you are an electronics technician you should have no problem understanding this connector diagram:

I suggest you check continuity from the battery + and Battery - thick wires to pins 3 and 9 on the 10 pin connector and then on to the connections of the throttle connector and see if you can locate a break.

thank you Bikemad for your suggestions .they are very helpful.i definitely check all that you say.i have send message to david  . why@........
i m very impressed with the power of that conversion kit  I didn’t expect it to be so powerful .the only think its that it starts with extremely hight power even if I push the push throttle as slow as I can. I think I have to make a modification for this (in the near future) so it can start more slowly.  the battery is made by me and it have great characteristics with a123  32113 cells.at 48 volts.i counted 50 km easy very easy and so fast !
now the think is to find the problem fix it and I will be then the happiest ebiker ever.

excuse me for my poor English.

im happy to find that forum.
have a good day .

Hi George,

Please don't apologise for your English, it is a million times better than my Greek. :D

To reduce the high power surge when the throttle is applied you will need to adjust the acceleration setting using the USB programming cable:

I have mine set @ 70% to allow the front wheel to stay on the ground when I pull away on my "wheelie machine":

I hope you have a suitable fuse (35 or 40 Amp) on your home made battery as those cells will push out a huge amount of power if accidentally shorted.

i find today some damaged wires and now the leds are working. I measure all wires and  I find them ok.and the 14 flashes is still here and the motor is not working .
david from gm.said (the controller flash 14 times, it shows that when you start motor, your throttle is not released, please check your throttle wiring or pin....)
i had send him another mail today about how to measure if possible the throttle.
the switch on the throttle is ok (measured ) but it s not doing anything at all .whats the purpose off this switch?
anyway I hope finally I find the problem with help from here and from david..
thank you very much Bikemad for your help.

finally 2 hall sensors was damaged one in the throttle and one in the motor due to short circuit of the cables .replased from action control (nick . flalconX for the forum ) and the motor now is working.but when the throttle reach full the motor stops working and when the throttle turn buck works again..im confused.
