Controller programming problem - 902 mini motor kit
« on: August 07, 2011, 01:46:38 PM »
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and apologise if the topic is covered elsewhere. I did not manage to find an answer when searching.

I have bought a 902 mini motor kit.
The controller I received is marked "10A" where the model no. normally is, and there is a serial no. (with bar code) on the back.

I was curious of the programming abilities, and did thus connect the USB cable and started up the programming software.
Connection and "GetConfig" was successful (no beep sounded from the controller though). The screen showed 10 A continuous, 30 A max and 24V.
Since I have a 36 V motor I wanted to change the voltage setting.

I was not able to "Store/Save" any changes to the controller.
I also tried "Factory Setting" which did work, but changed the amps to 30 continuous an 50 max! The changed amps remain when doing "GetConfig", so they seem to have sticked.
Now I cant change them back to 10/30, since "Store/Save" does not work.

My questions are:
1. Is there a way to convince the controller to accept new parameters?
2. How fast will my poor 250W mini motor burn from the possible approx. 1000 W from the "factory reset" controller?  :)

Best Regards
/Claes

I got some directions from this post http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=3144.msg19296#msg19296 (even though I could not view the images).

When I tried the PI-200 software on an old IBM Thinkpad it worked.
I got "Load Success", beep sounds and configuration changes that stuck (verified by "GetConfig").

The old Thinkpad is running Windows XP Proffessional with SP2.
The USB i/f is old too, probably version 1.3.

I have tried the PI-200 on two newer machines (where it failed), one with Windows XP Home Edition SP3, and the other with Win 7 Home Premium SP1. Both newer machines have USB 2.0 I think.

All machines have swedish localization.

So what is the key issue here? I have seen other posts where people has the PI-200 running on Win 7. Is the "Proffessional" version of Win a requirement?
