e-lmers battery series / parellel plug system
« on: July 05, 2011, 02:00:56 AM »

I am working on a design for a plug that is either series
when in the hot socket, or parallel when in the charging
socket.

I showed it for getting from 12V to 48V, but it could
be extended with whatever charger you need.

Mind you, you need an 8 connector plug for this.

Hi e-lmer this is great!!

I drew up a similar circuit using contactors, but this would be a simple solution considering a few of us already use or plan to use LiPo cells.

What were you thinking for the plug/sockets? I would think perhaps mini anderson connectors glued into the 2 variations you have. It's a great little design, I moved this into a seperate topic because I for one will probably be adding to it :D

It would be nice just to unplug the main 'motor wheel' plug, and plug in the parallel 'charge' plug along with a balance wire Y splitter for the balance leads and you are good to go

I was thinking about trying to get these.

Hey did you end up finding out about the Molex connectors? I found some on eBay but only PCB ones.
