Bike conversion advise needed!

I know, we are talking about conversions to ebike here, but something not involving electronics here.
I am trying to work out, which one to convert.

I have 2 bikes:
1. Road bike (700 x 25C rims), Shimano 7 gears, V-breaks
2. Hybrid (700 x 32C), Shimano 7 gears, V-breaks

From your experience, are 700C rims OK for ebike? Would it be stable at higher speeds? Or should I start looking at somehow converting on of the above to something like 26"? Is it even possible? What I want to get is a wider tire. Anyone knows whats the widest 700C comes in?
In GM products, the 700C models - what are the tire specs?

Either bike would be fine. Most riders convert 26 inch wheels but Id say about 1 in 20 convert a 700c. There would be no problems I am aware of. I never had a 700c fail so thats a good indication. I personally have a 700c with a 48v1000w motor on the front. This is theone i'm thinking of trying with 2 mini motors. It has very strong forks and I have had no problems. I have let several people test ride it. I think there is a link in the forum somewhere about someones impression of the bike.

Thanks, Gary. When are you thinking of trying 2x250w? Heard that because both of them do the work, they actually use less power, thus the range should increase. Still trying to find a post where people would share battery vs weight vs range... Concerned that 48v 12Ah might not be enough to take me to work (25km) by using the 1000w kit. Watched a video on YT by the guys from Perth, that took 350w (or 500w?) for a 30km spin, and still had plenty of juice left... Do you know if there are any GM dealers in Australia? Have not seen any on the forum...

Hey Gary

Here's another good reason to convert that bike to dual mini motor, put a switch for each throttle signal for the wheels then you can demonstrate either front or rear wheel or both to your customer :D

now that is a good idea!  I'm quite taken by the dual mini motor setup myself. for long lazy summer day cycling I think it could be the answer.

Hi

I took a GM Magic Pie on a spin for 24 miles, varying speeds but averaging 15-20 before the battery gave out.....25km wont be a problem, but doing it at top speed with heavy acceleration could be borderline...

myself and bike are 150 kgs :)

Man I would love to get on the bike, build a bike, mod a bike, you name it! Problem is all thie ^%$&%^#^$^*%$*^$&$^&*(&% Snow!

Two motors definatly go further then one on the same battery power. I noticed that imediatly when I went dual pie.

Sure that should do it, SInce I only have a dual drive pie(Mine), a 48v1000 hybrid ( I call that my back up bike or a demo bike), a 36v500 mountain bike ( I call this one the wifes), 2 shrinkers( the kids need bikes) over 15 unmotorized bikes whats one more!

What do you mean, "Not telling us"?

He's already told us that he's building a hybrid power system. It will be powered by 2 x Magic Pies, 1 x Cyclone Geared Motor and 1 x Monkey Pedalling like mad. ;D

I'm still waiting to see the video of the completed bike in action, which will hopefully have a suitable backing track, I'm convinced that the song by The Bangles would be the ideal choice, "Just a another Manic Monkey" .  ;)

Haha yeah I'm not sure what Monkey related song to use lol

My project is taking its sweet time I will tell you... I'll make a post when I have some more pics (charger still missing!!! damn garage lol) so it comes across clearer.

But yes, I want to trial a cyclone motor geared for top speed. I posted a topic about an auto gear change system, and to my amazement it's actually coming together. The main thing if I choose to build this the way I want, is I will have to debug a circuit using a microcontroller that changes my gears based on my speed. It's not to be crazy or anything, there is just a few really long stretches of flat road I would love to cover quicker if possible without having to change my internal dual drive setup. So I chose this to try, if it works - awesome and if not then I'll just take the cyclone motor off and leave the servo gear change. My bike is currently single speed. I can pedal to around 20km/h and that's it lol

Anyway I'll detail it in a topic. I'll get some more pics together :D
