fun while it lasted!
« on: May 02, 2008, 06:22:20 PM »
ive done 123km and have had a great time, but on my way home today I went over a little bump and the motor started to judder with no power or speed-it happened about 100mtrs from home. I looked at the wireing and noticed the green wire (of the 3 to the motor)had come away. I replaced it and.....nothing. when you turn the wheel around it feels judderey/lumpy.If I take off the 3 motor wires ,the wheel seems to spin freely. the battery meter that comes with the bike lights up,so I guess the controller is not totaly wasted.
theres continuaty with a meter on the motor wires(not burned out)
would it be the hall sensers?
how do I test them.
how do I test the controller output?
any help please

Glenn sounds like the time my axle spun.  I found latter that the wires were stripped but not shorted.  Juddering was exactly the sound/feeling it made.  Mine went away when I relaxed the wire going into the axle.  Eventually I cut the wires to change a bearing and found all three main wires skived. Gently push the wire into the hub and see if it goes away, or just pull it appart and remake the connections with solder.  Draggin
