I've been doing a lot of thinking about regen. With sensorless operation taking off in the market The idea of electronic braking presented it self to me beyond the use of hall sensors.
Electronic braking for some has usually been used as a back up and recharging batteries.
The magic controllers use PWM to make regen. it makes it easy to control the amount.
Now the use of a standard switch is currently been used. To vary the PWM you can use the throttle which uses a hall sensor.
Or a resistor over the brakes.
Designing the variable brake with a resistor in the calipers could be expensive and complicated.
I thought about this idea below.
It prolly been done a 1000 times before so I aint claim inventorship.
Im going to attempt to design something that works on a brake switch to cut the controller and a module to milk current through some diodes off the phase wires, then by sending a small charge to a fet gate with the source on the motor side and the drain on the battery.
No hall sensors needed and regen is variable off the brake.
