Cruse control dropping out
« on: September 27, 2018, 03:17:11 PM »
Hi everyone.
I had a Magic Pie 4 on a 700c rim. purchased Feb 2015.
(I have a MP5 hub now, but all original cables/wires/throttle from MP4)

As of yesterday, it seems (only) when I hit bumps, will the cruse control drop out.
(Sometimes takes a couple tries to engage/set)

Just wondering where to start for trouble shooting this, the cruse set button (on the left)
or the twist throttle controller(48v). Everything is plugged in and seems tight.
The bike has been dropped a couple of times(On the throttle) but that was a long time ago,
and didn't seem to have any affect on operation. The throttle works correctly (never stuttered/quit)

It would cost about $68+tax/ship to replace the throttle and left buttons, if I where to replace them.

P.S. I have over 16,000km on the bike and still look forward to riding it daily!
(I think the battery is 'JUST' starting to show a little age, but still easily gets me back and forth to work)

Thanks,
Chris

My Smart Pie with a 52V "Bottle" Battery started doing that. I discovered the contacts in the battery base were faulty. Bumps would make them lose contact for an instant, the cruise would kick off, and I'd have to reset. When that happened, of course there was a little arc or spark across the contacts, and they would heat up. Eventually it melted through the plastic and I was able to visually determine where the problem was. Newer bottle batteries don't have the same design, but I see on Luna's website they give instructions for 'McGuyvering' or 'Jerry Rigging' Dolphin and Shark packs because they have similar issues.

Ok, thanks, I'll start looking into it once my arm mends.
I got cut off on the first of Oct. Had to put the bike down or tbone them.
Broke my elbow and tore the ligaments in my shoulder when I hit the ground.
The vehicle left the scene and me in the middle of the intersection.
Fun times!!
