How waterproof is the throttle?
« on: August 16, 2016, 03:39:40 AM »
I've seen the video of the pie in running in the water bucket, but I wonder if the throttle is sealed as well.  Should I take steps to waterproof it?

I have a MP3. If it is going to rain, I put a plastic bag over it. I have heard too many horror stories about people throttles getting wet then bad things happening. I ride mine every day, rain or shine.

I've ridden in downpours so bad I couldn't see ten feet in front of me with no problems. But then today in a light rain I had issues for the first time. Good question. Eagerly awaiting responses.

My old mp3 had problems once in a heavy shower, seems like the main distibutor connector and the throttle connector sucked to much water, because after disconnect and drying it, it ran fine for the rest of the trip, still in rain. Never had issues with my smartpie5, but there is no distributor connector as I feed the wire directly into the throttle, due to long wire (rear wheel in front on a fatbike).
