HUB24S & BAC-0283P
« on: May 26, 2012, 01:30:55 PM »
We bought two BAC-0283P controllers and two motor wheels HUB24S.
It turned out that motor wheels are Brushed, but the controllers are set to Brushless.
There is a parameter DC(Brashed) in the Programming user interface screen.

If we order a wire (PI-200E) our motor-wheel drive can work with these controllers?
It is possible to reprogram them to work with a brushless motor wheels?

Thx.

The BAC-0283 will work for brushless motors the PI-200e USB to controller wire will allow you to program the controller to some extent. If the controller can be programmed to work with brushed motors thru the user programming screen, it should work. YMMV

GM have previously said that the BAC-028*P controllers cannot be used with brushed motors, so the DC (brushed) option within the software seems pretty pointless.

It might be possible to connect a three phase rectifier to the phase wire terminals to produce a DC output for a brushed motor, but I don't think that it would work without some form of hall sensor input to trigger the controller.
I don't suppose it would work in sensorless mode either, because the rectifier diodes would prevent any back EMF from reaching the controller to enable the correct phase switching.

The only controller that GM seem to have available on their website that would be compatible with the HUB24S motors is the IM-50A Joystick Controller for Wheelchairs.
