seat post battery rack and mounting controller
« on: April 15, 2011, 10:12:09 PM »
Hi Guys
Thanks for your past help the build is coming along.  I am working on the 48volt 1000watt full kit.  I was given the seat post mounted battery rack.  I had to do some on line research to figure how to put it together.  Are builders mounting the exterior controller box on the battery rack or are they mounting it elsewhere.  I have been unable to find images showing the seat post rack and controller mounted together.
I did try searching the posts but could not find anything specific to my question.
Your helpful comments will, as always, be appreciated. Thanks again!

I could be wrong, but I thought the controller box was for the parcel type rack?

Can't remember seeing anyone fixate one to the seat post rack

That is part of my confusion as there is very little info on mounting the seat rack and the controller box.

The seat post rack was not designed to have the controller box put under it. You could try improvising some type of method, but if you have rear-suspension then you most likely will not have any clearance left between the controller box and the wheel. I initially used velcro to keep the controller box attached to the top of the battery, but then I put the controller inside a bag that is mounted on the front of the frame. Take a look at my post to see the two different ways that I had the controller mounted: http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?PHPSESSID=6663910edcf5f3da678b487009720d3d&topic=3063.0

I have seen people zip tie it to the bottom of the rack. If you have room as Mike says. I can not seem to find the pictures I was sent like that but it seemed to wok ok.

I may have the clearance to zip tie the box to the bottom of the  battery rack.   I drive a hybrid so there is no rear suspension.  The ideas have been helpful - thanks again!
