Title: 7 Speed Freewheel vs 6 Speed Freewheel

I'm wondering if I changed my 7 speed freewheel to a 6 speed, would that give me the extra wiggle room I need, to have my wheel fully centered. Basically the way the frame is, I can't seem to get the wheel fully centered. I need to push the wheel more towards the gear side. However, if I put another spacer in then the gear side of the wheel, doesn't give me enough room, for the chain to go down to the smallest gear.

I figured going to a smaller 6 speed Freewheel, and changing the derailer as well. Would give me a little extra space ?
