Title: MP3 brake function
Post by: Just on July 11, 2014, 09:42:18 AM
Hi All,

Is there a way to disable the brake function in the MP3 Hub Motor? Could it be done by programming the Controller? Should I buy the program cable separately or it comes with the motor hub?

Thank you!

Just disconnect the signal cable to the brake handle.

I see, thanks Dennis! Should I not need to connect it to GND? Just left it floating?

How many wires comes from/to the MP3 with Internal Motor?

Is there a connection schema how to connect all these wires?

My GM brake handles had connectors on the signal cables.  I just unplugged them from the "Y" connector that was part of my MP3.

Dennis

Oh, I taped the open connector ends to keep water out..

The more recent wiring harness is slightly different to the diagram shown here:

It has a slightly different multiconnector block like this:

instead of this:

If you are not planning on using the brake switches you might want to consider using the horn switch to operate regen (http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=5019.msg29148#msg29148) as it would also work as a safety switch to cut the power when the motor runs on its own due to water finding its way inside the throttle unit.  ;)
