Hi all,
I have the USB cable and I have downloaded and installed the programming interface. Despite hearing the MS Windows acknowledgement of a USB hardware successfully connecting, I do not hear any other confirmation beeps. I don't think I'm changing any parameter on the controller.
The interface is slightly different than the one I've seen in other posts, documents and videos on YouTube. The confirmation beeps are missing, the messages in read appearing in the bottom left corner are missing, the logo in the top right corner is different... am I using the right software for this?
See the screenshot attached.
Thanks,
François

Hi François and(https://i.imgur.com/evDSMvT.png)to the forum.
Although I haven't tested that particular version, the software should work with the Magic Pies.
You need to make sure that reverse (if wired) has not been selected, else this will cause the communication and programming to fail.
If you click the "Connect" button it should produce a low pitch tone and display "Connect Success" in the bottom left corner.
If you then click the "Disconnect" button, you should hear a higher pitched tone, and "Disconnect Success" should then appear in the bottom left corner.
If the software does not Connect and Disconnect correctly then the controller will not respond to any of the subsequent programming changes.
Check out this post (http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=4081.msg23209#msg23209) and this one (http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=4344.msg25314#msg25314) for further help with programming problems.
Alan
P.S. It appears you have already done it.

If your'e having OCX service problems, I can write a proper installer for the whole package.

Have discovered on Windows 8 that if I right mouse button menu click on "Run As Administrator" the software fires up OK.
Otherwise I get much the same errors others are reporting.
Don't have a Win 7 box but the software fires up OK on XP.
Might be worth a try before going through all the hoops explained in various threads.
Really, and I suspect others have said same, the software needs to be updated and recompiled.
Regards.

And formatted for Macs.

I think it would be much better if the controller was modified to allow Bluetooth connectivity so that programmable settings could be altered in real time throughout the ride using any Android device or Smart phone etc. This would eliminate the need for a separate programming cable.
It should also be possible to transfer real time information via Bluetooth for monitoring battery voltage, current, rpm, temperature, calculated power, speed and distance travelled etc:

I would also like to see an adjustable cruise control which controlled the motor power and the regenerative braking force to maintain a constant speed down hill, up hill and on the level.
You could also have user selectable engine sounds which would directly respond to the throttle position and rpm for a realistic engine noise simulation (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tfiver.obd2sound&hl=en). I would also want it to have some realistic tyre squealing and skidding noises too. ;)

I agree with Alan . We need a program for Mac's . I have a really good Mac book and a really crappy windows laptop that my cousin gave me just so I could program my Pies . The windows machine takes 5 mins just to boot . Modern hardware , antique software . Rod
