Title: what is my Magic Pie model? and rim 26'?
Post by: albertlc on April 25, 2013, 12:58:44 PM
some time ago I bought my Magic Pie with external controller.
now I don't know what is my moldel version. is not a MP 3.
the question is I have a MP or a MP2. exists the MP2 model?
another question I have is... it's possible to put other rim than the original?
my MP tire is 26' but I got damaged when I bought it and now I need to change because it's very dangerous
can anybody ask me where I can buy a rim that will go well with the spokes? or I need buy another spokes?
I want to change my rim but I don't want the original GM rim.
thanks from mallorca!! https://maps.google.es/maps?q=mallorca&oe=UTF-8&hnear=Mallorca&gl=es&t=h&z=9

The original MKI Magic Pie had the conventional crossed spokes:

If your wheel has the irregular hole spacing on the hub flange (no crossed spokes) it will be an MPII.

The MPII is on the left, and the MPIII is on the right:

If you can find a 36 hole 30mm deep "V" rim, it should be OK to use your existing spokes:

However, if the internal diameter of the new rim is more than 2mm larger (or smaller) than the GM rim you may need to use longer (or shorter) spokes.

For example, if the internal diameter was 10mm larger, you would need spokes at least 5mm longer than the existing ones.
