Hello,
I checked the controller in my Smart Pie, and it was really something.
I don't have a decent macro shooting camera, but there was certainly some component that had vaporized itself.
Green dust everywhere and a molten gunk. The transistors seemed intact, need to check if I could use those for something.
Please share your experience on other controllers here, thanks!

I have also helped a friend install a Infineon 18Fet from em3ev.com on his MagicPie III. The first thing he did when testing it was to wheelie out of control and into my car. We later dialed it down a bit.
The Infineon controllers have a programming software that is harder to use than the GM software, but more flexible. It only writes so you can't check your settings like on the GM.

I am using Kellycontroller.
A lot of features, but I really don't use them.
I can't judge yet, because the Kellycontroller has eaten >1000 km's now.
My goal is 30.0000 km's in a year 8)

Here (http://Kellycontroller.com/KDZhelp.php) are some screen shots from the Kelly controller programming software. Lots of fancy features. I like the analog regen break. I wish I had a Kelly controller just to play with all the features...

I only like the ABS feature it's working well.
But I have disabled all brake features to save my bike dropouts.
So I am usinbg bike brakes ;D

Would be nice to use regen etc... I'm torturing Smart Pie in under -20C, so currently not doing that. But maybe with a new controller?

Aaaaahhhh... blissful life....
I received the Infineon controller yesterday from em3ev, or let's say 'tailored controller solution', that'll do justice.
I must say, as highly punished ebike owner, that I'm really impressed about the package.
There is not a single wire or plug extra, yet all functions related to order are there. All the buttons have found a purpose, and no longer need to worry so much about wearing out the keyswitch on the battery.
The GM kit was ok for me really, until the controller blew up the second time.
GM Smart Pie motor and battery are so far still a quite good buy. The battery has taken some serious abuse and it's still performing good. Like the day when the battery fell to the ground from full speed... just looks a bit different now but performs the same. :)
I'm still considering I spared money by investing into a kit, unless I count all the hours spent debugging... but I must add that the journey itself has some value.
GM guys, you're not there yet with Smart Pie but I know it's not that far! I hope you hire some hw testers some day! :)
