Hi All,
I'm seeking for a GOOD (probably BEST) charger for the 24 LiFePo4 battery.
The charger should include the following functions:
- able to measure an internal resistance of the cells
- has a balance function (able to balance up to 8 cells)
- automatically variable output current (in dependence of the cell's charging condition - good chargers start with high output current and end the charging with just 0.5A).
- 220V as an input voltage (nice-to-have, not must)
Your recommendations about additional important features are welcome!
Thank you!

Hyperion.

Hyperion.
They don't have a charger, which is able to balance 8S or more cells simultaneously!

It does 14s. You might need to connect it 4+4 since it is 2x7, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Yup I had two Hyeriions connected together.
But sold them, to much hassle.
I like plug in and charge.
-
Waw, 200EUR! Too much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
When you ask for the BEST you should be prepared to pay for it.
You can try the iCharger 1010B+ (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__6609__iCharger_1010Bplus_300W_10s_Balance_Charger.html). It can do 10s on a single plug and costs about half as much.
-
yes, but why you think that Hyperion chargers better than iCharger one (at least twice according to the price)?
-
I have no Idea what the best charger is. I wasn't the one who mentioned Hyperion.
I have been told that both chargers are very good, but I have no personal experience or opinions about any of them.
-
I had power Ichargers from Hobbyking.
The blew up in no time! Just read the reviews and you will know.
Also Hyperion has great support firmware and interface software with your pc.
But now I own the FMA Pl8 charger with 2KW psu>>> 40A charging ;D
O well after the e bike virus I stopped with RC stuff.... ;D
-
I have the iCharger 1010b+, and it's working just fine; I use it to charge my 36V, 20A LiFePo battery... :)
Having a charger that can charge with 40A doesn't help you unless you have a battery that can handle that high charging rate; in other words; either a 40Ah battery, or a battery consisting of cells that can handle much more than 1C, which is rare with e-bike batteries... (Normal with cells used in rc-stuff though, but at the expence of long-life...)
Edit;
Either the Hyperion or the iCharger are not plug and play chargers for e-bike use; one have to make your own balance charge plugs etc...

I am using Headway 15A cells and my Magic Pie 3 peaks are +/- 92A / 4KW (at starting up).
I am charging my Hyperions 4A lipo's with 25A ;D

I am charging my Hyperions 4A lipo's with 25A ;D
Then I suspect you won't have them for long...
-
Yup they didn't last long ;D
So waste of 220 USD ;D
O well it was just for testing my 1:8 buggy.
It went 120 km/h, it can faster.
But the wind makes the car flying, so no steering possible ;D
-
How do you get to that speed? I once had a nitro car with 3 gears and I never got it up to 2nd. It was just too fast.
-
Haha I am cheating:
Castle Creations 2650KV with Hyperion 45C 4A 6S lipo.
And ofcourse the right gears ratio ;D
-
I've never tried a Lipo car, maybe the higher acceleration helps. Or maybe you are just a better driver than I was. I never had a radar gun though, so I can really tell what speeds I did, but it never geared to second (automatic transmission).
-
Haha I was using Garmin Forerunner 201 GPS.
Nope it was just straight lane , so you don't have to be a good driver ;D
Yup a lot of torque, gas car can't beat that.
