Hello guys,
what material is the power cable?
Doesn't look like copper, it has a silvery look. Aluminium? Copper Clad? Within the cable it seems there is a slight coppery tint.

Its just some sort of coting. If you scratch the wire with a knife or a sand paper you'll see copper color underneath.

The silvery coating is actually metallic tin that is generally electroplated onto the copper to improve the corrosion resistance of the wire. Without the tin coating, the copper can develop an oxide layer that makes good electrical connections difficult. You should not remove the tin coating from the wires you use. It is especially important if you are planning to solder the wire.

Good info, thanks Dennis.
Working on my winter bike here. I have about 1000km of testing in minus degrees down to -25C (yes, I know the specs don't give it so low), 15km in the morning and 8 in the evening, plus one 34km ride with Cruzer cart in the back.
Everything seems good down to -25C at least, haven't been out in colder weather this year.
Many many problems and fixes, lately only this power cable related problem.

burr that is crazy cold, riding to work this morning I got a little shiver. it was the coldest temps I have been on bike. it was 23 Celsius or 74 Fahrenheit burrrrr. glad the sun is up and we are back in the 80's 8)

dblues, those temps are why I left North Dakota. :) I guess I should have moved to the Caribbean.

Guys, I know you mean well ;D, but I really like the low temps here. No dirt flying around, just some powder snow. Everything keeps clean through the winter.
Proper tires and snow feels like mud. Proper clothes and there's no cold either.
In winter, there are usually only the empty streets, just begging for a ride :)

You must live somewhere they don't salt the roads. Here there is nothing clean about snow, only a lot of salt that kills anything metal. On the good side the salt keeps the traffic going with no delays, but it also means no empty roads. (only about -10C here though, -25C might be too cold for salt to work)
The only good thing with winter is that there are no bugs whatsoever. Nothing with six legs for 8 months, thats a blessing.
