Title: Central battery mounting
Post by: REV Bikes on October 22, 2012, 02:05:50 AM
Hi Guys,
Wondering if any bright sparks have suggestions for mounting the brick shaped battery within the triangle of the frame, using some sort of U-bracket?  Love to see pics if anyone has done this, and where we can get the brackets from.

Thanks,
RevBec

There are various ways of mounting the battery within the frame.
Lionel appears to have held his in place with leather straps and buckles:

Gary opted for Velcro instead:

Roberto constructed a metal box to house his battery and controller:

Pavel opted for a major frame modification to fit this battery in:

There are many options, but you will need to choose one that suits your particular battery and frame.
You will also need to take into account your practical skills and available equipment etc. too.

I've just noticed that GM are now selling Lithium Manganese "water bottle batteries" that bolt onto the standard frame mountings:

36V/8AH @ $215/set and 24V/10AH @ $198/set

It certainly looks very neat and tidy on this Smart Pie powered Trek:

Rebecca's bike has a much curvier downtube than yours, but it might be possible to mount it on the seat tube instead:

But I think the battery might be too big to actually fit in there.
