Title: Magic Pie windings. What can you tell me about them?

Yours truely once again, :D

Magic Pie windings. What can you tell me about them?

What part in the process do the windings play?

The windigs are very important in electric motor
manufacturing.

If they didnt throw the windigs, the workers
get depressed, and quality suffers.

Plus, everybody loves a party.

On an unrelated topic, a wire is like a faraday cage.
Excess electrons (current) flows on the surface.
Many motor windings are several wraps of fine
wire to share the current but reduce the resistance.

The magnetic field results from the current, at a right
angle to the flow, which happens to lie inside the core
material.

So , in conclusion, more turns, more "flux"
and so, more power.

ok, basic version, if we forget about how thick the copper is ( which is one factor that determines  how much total power the motor can handle)

the basic influence of a winding for the newbie is that it affects RPM per volt

Each motor has a rating of RPM per volt, so if a pie can do 270rpm on 54V rpm per volt = 270/54

if you wind less times, the motor has a higher rpm per volt, but at lower rpm's will need more amps than a higher wind motor
so if we take the Mac ( apologies) motor at 36V as an example ( cause you can buy different windings)

6 wind    400RPM
8 wind    320RPM
10wind   255rpm

12 wind  200 rpm
now  in order to reach a certain speed, the 6 wind will use nearly double the amps of the 12 wind, so although the watts  ( amps x volts) is the samel..but the 6 wind has as viewed the highest speed.....

So choice of windings takes into account the highest speed you require, with higher amps as a tradeoff
I had a 6 speed mac, but found that as I didnt need a 35mph top speed, that an 8 wind was much more efficient for my needs
