my pie bike came to a juddering stand still last week on the way to work leaving the pie wheel difficult to turn and impossible to ride.
Today my dual mini motor bike shows ignition light and good battery power through the CA but there is no power,, I had to pedal all the way home from work :o :o I've gone through the wiring to check for loose connections but everything seems ok (although I will be inspecting more thoroughly,, what is the other likly hoods for no power? If one of the external controllers has failed would it stop the other motor from powering?

Andrew, if your Pie has an external controller you can simply disconnect the three thick phase wires (Yellow, Green and Blue) to enable it to be pedalled normally. It sounds as if one or more of the FETs have failed inside the controller. :(
Regarding the dual minis, if either the +5V supply to the throttle unit, or the hall sensor within the throttle, has failed, then both motors would stop working because there would be no throttle signal voltage coming from the throttle.
A faulty ground wire on the throttle would cause the motors to run at full speed if it occurs while power is already turned on, but it could also prevent the motors from working if the fault was there before the power was turned on.
I suggest you check the throttle connector to see if you have ~5v between the throttle red wire and the throttle black wire. If little or no reading is obtained, try putting the black probe from the meter to battery negative connection instead of the throttle black wire. If it then shows the correct ~5v, you probably have a break somewhere in the negative lead between the throttle unit and the controller.
Let's hope it's an easy fix once you've located the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. I really need to take some time with both bikes to find out if the pie is a controller failure or a loose connection inside the pie (I have not done it yet - sorry Ginge!). I wasn't expecting bike number 2 to fail as well. I think it maybe just a loose connection, but need to give some patience and time looking closer. I have a spare working external controller on Sarah's bike so at least I can swap controllers to find out if I have a dud.
As a starter, , if one of the chain of black ground wires is loose will this stop power? I would not have thought so??
Ginge,, you are very kind offering time on Sunday, but I may have to rain check until another week due to having no funds until next Wednesday - pay day. Let me spend a couple of hours this weekend fiddling with the bikes and I will get back to you all.

If its the 'main' one in the chain, well then, yes.....
You could find out by using a multimeter on continuity, then connecting 1 probe to your GND of battery, then the other to Blue of controller (eBrake)
Press the ebrake lever. If you get continuity, then you have GND connection throughout the chain.
Remember if you don't have a horn connected, and do not run LED lights from the harness then you may not be hearing the Error beeps coming from the controller that would surely point you in the right direction.
For example, if your throttle was the culprit, the controller will be emitting 3 beeps/flashes. etc.

I've got a spare new twist throttle here, so I can try a swap easily enough. All I need to do now is give the bike some of my time. A Sunday job me reckons ;).

OK, quick update, Bike No.1 back up and running! It seems that the external controller has failed >:(, So i've had to rob the one from Sarah's bike ;) Thankfully it was not a loose connection inside the hub, which would have been more hassle. So Pie up and running again. ;D But it may now be time to invest in an Infineon device.
Bike No.2 has not been looked at yet but i'm pretty sure it's just a loose wire from my crap workmanship, so i'm not that worried. I just need to find the patience to carefully go through them one by one and reattach to each other.

Alan, I have a feeling that this could be the problem with bike No.2. I went to work on the bike fine. Got back on for journey home and there was no power. There is a bit of dodgy wiring that needs some attention
