Post by: wattsup on June 03, 2011, 03:51:12 PM
for my information, can anyone tell me how many cells are in a typical 48v pack and anywhere to see a picture of how they are arranged in a 48v pack and the wiring connections please.

The GM battery is similar to this:

This is what the inside of a GM pack looks like:

Somewhere there should be some pictures of the Battery Management System, but I can't find them at the moment.

I have some BMS pictures I sent to MM one time. I'll have to look for them when I get a chance. Unless Monkey uploads them.

I managed to find this picture showing the red + battery lead:

I've attached a modified picture showing what I think is the connecting layout for the thirteen groups of three paralleled cells.
You'll have to ignore the duplicated balance leads where I have copied and pasted in order to show all the cells.
There should be a total of twelve balance leads, one connected to each of the white interconnecting links:

Sorry about your hand TOM, but it was in the way and had to be removed. ;D

But now I'm not sure whether it might even be wired like this:

The more I look at it, the less sure I become. ???
