i,ve just put my new majic pie motor in the frame and pinched up the securing nuts. wheel rotation is rather stiff and does not spin freely. is this normal with a new motor. chain adjustment is slack... wheel is central...tyre is not rubbing...brakes are backed right off. as yet the wiring is not finished so I cant spin up motor. ???

I think it is normal, the motor has quite some resistance.
I mounted mine a few days ago and I was surprised by the amount of resistance but it runs fine.
Just one thing, if some of the 3 wires from the motor touch each other the resistance can become huge because it acts as an electric break (as far as I understand it).

yes, you are trying to spin the wheel against the magnets inside the pie. this is normal no need to worry

I find the wheel seems to spin much more freely after much national drink :D

I have just finished my wiring to a state where I can test, and yeeessss!!! it lives and breaths. because i,ve not finished the wheel fixing fully, I ran it at a really slow speed for a few seconds and it seems to have freed everything up. even pushing the bike along is much much better. my bike is single speed freewheel and I had concerns because of stiffness, that even peddaling would be challenging, but these concerns have now dwindled away. I,M A HAPPY BUNNY NOW :)
