Title: Winding Count
Post by: DirtyGinge on May 07, 2011, 12:21:19 PM
Hi All

Does anyone know the winding count on a Magic Pie, as in how many turns round the stator the copper is going....

Thinking of maybe reducing the pie winding by a couple of turns..

If you reduce the turns then you get more RPM per volt, and you will be able to get more power if at the same time you increase the thickness of the copper wire, you will be able to do this because you will have more space in the holes due the less windings turns
The idea is that you put as much cooper as possible in the holes.

Hi Gonzo

yes this is the idea, to increase the top end speed, and to reduce the possibility of windings melting under higher voltage

Just a project that ill do on a spare motor, as then ill learn the how the windings are done...good for education  ;D
