Title: Wouldit be detrimental to hook up one electric brake line to two controllers?
Post by: Sangesf on April 27, 2011, 11:31:08 PM
Would it harm anything to hook up my electric brake line to two separate controllers running off of separate power supplies?

Not that I'm aware of but I don't think warranty covers that so it's at your risk. But why are you trying to find out?
electric brake lone, is that the brake levers sensor or something like that?

No you are sweet as.

If you wire your eBrake lever to 2 independent controllers, wiring this in parallel will connect the GND of both batteries and since it's a digital signal (ebrake/regen) with negligable to zero current you will not have issues.

I think you use mini motors Sangesf? So if you wanted to cut out the motor just wire the ebrake part of your external controllers and the single switch is fine.

PS: No offense intended mate, but for some reason the first time I saw your username and ever since - makes me think of Zangief from streetfighter haha remember that game !!! lol

He was a tough unit

I haven't used a mini motor since the hall sensors on mine broke (14 mos. After I bought it)
That was my only concern was that "shorting" the ebrake line, might have a bad effect on one of the controllers or batteries.

Sorry, maybe I didn't phrase that correctly

There is no "short" as such, it simply completes a pull down circuit to provide a digital signal (0)

So are you running anything now? Or are you going to fix your mini motors

Dual 36v 500w motors (non GM) with dual 36v 20ah batteries, NOW using two magic controllers..

Here is a short vid from a month ago (BEFORE I made the bike look all "pretty" again) which will give you an idea...

I'll be posting a new vid once my bike is 90% completed

Oh cool, I remembered that was you but that link confused me I think

Mate, who cares what it looks like your bike is cool and as you say in your vid you love it :D haha same with me, mine has become nothing like what it was originally. You have heaps of functional features and I must say I laughed when I noticed many similar accessories of your bike the same as I have like your rear cruise button, is the horn button that came with your front headlight. Lol I even know that headlight was around $25 from memory and the battery meter is pretty accurate!! hehe I own one too but I put a wireless receiver in it and put it on a scooter I have. The 5 step battery level works well on it for the first half of the battery I always thought..

I've also made a front 'dashboard' like yours, so its good to see someone with similar interests. I like my music too!

good work mate, post the new pics in the gallery or something ;)

Ok....
1.) The box ALWAYS holds a 36v Lifepo4 battery, 12v sla battery, two spare tubes, tool kit, tail/brake light, directionals and electric tire pump..
2.) ORIGINALLY, the box ALSO held 600w amp and 10" sub.
3.) CURRENTLY holds #1.
4.) WHEN I have the money, the back box will hold #1. and #2. BUT, it will be made of diamond plate (treadplate) aluminum and I will probably paint the entire bike fire-engine red and call it, "The Fire Beast", unless someoe can come up with a better name (with "beast" in it).
Unless someone
