i hope this doesn't sound strange, but what type of Lithium-ion battery is the golden motor pack?

Andrew,
The rack mounted pack pictured below contains Lithium Manganese cells:

I don't know what cells are used in the frog style battery packs, but as GM don't state anything different, I'm guessing they may also use the same Lithium Manganese cells.

thanks Alan, I was hoping they used manganese and not colbolt , polymer etc. Even so I thought they may have been a mix of different substances
BTW, Monday is now looking likely to be the Launch day ;). I had taken my bike to an E-bike retailer/ electrical engineer to have things fully sorted. He's had special washers made to help hold the axles in place in what have turned out to be very shallow rear dropouts. I have not seen the washers yet so will be interesting. Can't wait to write up an article about the whole thing. :)

Andrew, There's no need to wait, you can make a start on it right away. ;D
I'll look forward to reading your review (http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=2688.msg16074#msg16074), and hopefully seeing some photos, when it's completed along with the road test report.
