Just a note.
In an impulsive move I deleted my account. ::)
I re-joined as there are people here I do enjoy very much interacting with.
It was just an account. Another reason I wanted to loose my tech officer badge and didnt want to go through all the explaining. Now I am just a member like everyone else. :D I liked being a normal member.
Whats happened?
I installed the 15 amp hour life batt on my bike with dedicated sensorless controller and HBS motor, and OMG I love lifepo. The bike is like Ive never experienced. Im Thinking it goes over 50kph.
I tested and worked the 15 ah batt and played around.
The irony is I just touch the 20ah batt and move to install Anderson power poles and I shorted the signalab BMS to the xlr plug for the 20ah batt and fried the fets. Oh well Im replacing the outout fets or getting a new BMS. It was like, remove the heatshrink protectors not even strip the cable shielding from the ends, wires move around a bit, and the ends are not even the same length but the xlr met them in the middle and zap. Chances of that happening are slim.
Chance of this happening to me seem to much more.
LOL its just a BMS. The cells are fine. Both packs are balanced and awesome.

I messed around with some aluminum checker plate and it was starting to concern me with the heat the aluminum would tranfer into the box the metal got too hot to touch.
So I just taped up the box foam the battery came in and puts some rubber around it. The rubber gets hot but the thick foam insulates it well.
This summer my problem wont be getting the heat out of the pack it will keeping the heat out. One more addition will be I add some mylar around the pack over that rubber and put some fake zebra pattern skin over it.

I must say I'm glad you're back! ;D
My first need for sharing was when I just ordered one Magic Pie. I brought with me the unassembled kit+my old bike+2 SLA's+tools on a one week vacation up in the mountains. The kit had just arrived from China before leaving. I did no install-planning whatsoever before leaving (stupid).
I had one concern after installing. Found the forum on the web (mobile browsing). Placed a question. Prompt response, nice response. I uploaded a video of my concern. Soon I could cool down and enjoy the Pie! Tnx again 317537, you were my first helper here at the forum. (I am still a little disappointet of myself I didn't get it , 317537= Leslie. Someone had to spell it out to me, goooood grief)
And I agree regard. the battery. LiFePo will change the world! What a fantastic power source.

Welcome back, Leslie!
I was a little bit worried for a while that you would leave us. I understand your decision regarding the badge, some people did give you a hard time.

I myself saved the foam box the battery came in because it really fit the battery exactly. My intention was however to give it shelter from the cold. :D
Looking great, Leslie.

Nice one Leslie, glad you decided to come back!
Bike is looking super!
What current are you pushing into that motor?
-
Thanks heaps.
Well fathers day today. I thought I take the HBS on a good ride as I worked it perfect and the bike was showing every sign of being solid as.
Pack is good, motor is jumping out of the box, sensorless controller was responding right off the mark needing no assist, well there's the sign, everything is working exceptional well. Got 20 meters down the road and the Ecrazy controller crapped out on me. OMG. LOL
I did some tests with a multimeter connected up to the phase wires to measure voltage and I had to set it to HV to even not see the spikes over the phase wires it was measuring overload on the meter. Since then the controller has become unmanageable. Must of been the motor side cap not filtering out the spikes. No TVS's on these fets, even so would not of made the controller very functional if the motor side cap wasn't doing its job.
Im sort of glad my new stuff is one the way and I make what I can with it.
I do feel pretty worn out doing hard wiring for nothing. I spent over $3000 AU and still have nothing to ride for it yet. This is the Ebike way. Have faith and work the bike better and hope the gear I bought will come together somehow someday.
If my Pie comes by ship its another 40 odd days before we will see them... I think I will get an external Magic controller just to part of the crowd here,
Should be fun :D
Thanks again my friends and remember you people here is why I came back.
-
HI Leslie,
Lithium is good al right . Those pings are good.
40 days for your pies? OMG! :'(
what controller are you getting for your Pie?
You want to get a magic controller? muhahaha lets see if you can make her smoke! ;D
As a matter of interest, what kind of current were you feeding that motor?
-
The ecrazy is not unlike the Infineon. 72v modded down to 48v yellow PCB I think the same layout, IRFB4110 FETS and 100v caps.
The only differences is yours has the CA connector and regen and mine isa native sensorless.
There were 2X20 amps shunts and I was having problems with SLA battery slump and sensorless working reliably when I got it. So I cut the shunt and rode around on it for a few months then I up the volts to 60v controller and rode around on it some more.
Then my SLA's died and it sat around the home on the table for a month or so,,,
So 20 amps it was doing. I got no CA so I just know by the shunts.
I have no idea why it died but the bike was kicking booty. I rode it it to town, and the next day I tried the throttle and no response, I tried again a few time and it came to life, the wife rode around and got home with a small load in the trailer..
Yesterday I took off and got 20 meters down the road,
Ive been having some bad luck lately. I havent been sleeping again.
Night Mark,

Sleep is good!
One my cats keeps waking me very early in the morning and if I don't respond to his meowing, he hops up on the locker and starts knocking down anything he can! what a clever little brat. I even watched him one morning and he looks over at us to see if we are moving and if not, then he knocks down some more things. My other cat loves to crawl under the blanket between the two of us, he crawls up on top of us waiting for us to lift the blanked so he can climb in and if non of us are awake he taps us on the nose or forehead. people that say cats are dumb animals are people who do not live with them LOL they are very clever! But we love them to bits! ;D
Sometimes it can be hard to get sleep! :)
Anyway back to bikes.
Do you think 25 mph max from the pie will be enough for you Leslie?
Mark
-
Well I got another 3 hours sleep again.
Your cat times 100 is my three 4yo triplet children. Because they are identical something in the way they grow makes em a little slower not just mentally but physically too.
They are nearly 5 now and still act and look like 3 yos. Which means 5 years raising 3 babies, It definetly sucks to me right now. From the day they got home my life has been u[psidfe down and sleepless. They were 4lbs and on 4 hourly feeds..
We finish feeding the last baby and the first one needs a change you finish changing all three the the first one needs a again feed.
A child their ages would allow a parent one sleep every now and then. Its the nature of how they combine and communicate that make this so much more difficult.
Three of them can destroy a room in 5 mins. All you will hear is laughter coming from the room. Beds all off the bases upside down and they peeled all the paint off the bed room walls. No use painting it again as they just do all again.
We had to throw one of the new beds we bought them out as they tor all the covering off it and left ii a bunch of springs three days it took them.. They find a small hole in something and 30 little fingers go to work....
Another bed base is just springs on wheels but still works for its purpouse. We want to get them new ones but it seems they just want to destroy new stuff.
You clean drawings off the wall and there is a new one it almostr like you clean it for them so they caqn do fresh drawings.. Take the crayons off them they used poo.
They steal all our cameras and wifes trinkets and in a fight over who get them throw it all over the fence in the neighbors pool.
To this day we have no idea where some much loved family collectibles have gone too.
Stay up all night just to have some sanity time out.
::)

40 kph will do juuuuust fine. Going fast is one thing but the time getting to 40 kph is a type of fast too. I love the feeling of acceleration more than I do going fast.
With the 15ah LI batt even my HBS was like a hound out of the box on the trail, lots of top speed torque those sensorless give out.. I started feeling sad when the acceleration wasn't anymore.
Anything that can compete with the tragic like my HBS in sensor mode would be awesome, any more would be like heaven in hell.

I have three boys 18, 6 and 3 years old, and the small ones make a hurricane feel calm, but the oldest is their idol and a great help. They have some kind of filter in their ear that filters the voices of their parents, but the big brother always get through. I can only imagine how it would be if all of them were the same age.
As an old motorcyclist I can see the need for you to get on the road.
I’ve been thinking about to buy me a cat, I think it sounds cosy with your cats Mark.
Peter
-
Glad you are back Leslie, you were also the first one to offer advise to me on this forum, until then, I felt a bit alone & out of my depth. I just love getting on my bike now & couldn't be without it. Every non-rain day the car stays in the garage.
I only have one three yr old, but boy, can I sympathise! The girl was away last weekend & had the whole time solo. There must be some way to put that energy into batteries.
-
make a hurricane feel calm,

Peter
LOL I think this is a funny expression.
We have three cats.
We were given the female and allowed her to have a litter and kept 2 boys. They are all good cats and if we forget to feed they help themselves to the cupboards. Thats OK if we want to keep our good food it reminds us to feed them and they need to eat. Otherwise they are no trouble at all.
They eat more tidy than children and don't leave the kitchen a mess. LOL
If you don't spoil them with too much food they catch all the mice and scare the snakes away that come from the cane fields we live in and around..
They are spider hunters and immune to the most poisonous spider in Australia and maybe other types of animals that poison via Lymphatic system.
Train them as kittens to hunt spiders by attaching a realistic toy spider to a fishing line string and tease them. They will hunt them forever after this.
Cats are No 1 pets. I like Dog but the Laws are cruel to them not the owners.
-
Thanks Phil.
In some way the three can keep themselves occupied, mostly in ways we wont enjoy but none the less not alway seeking our attention Like a single child can do.
ATM I have a sweet brushed 36v modded Currie tech bike that gets me around. Its got 3X12ah SLA's that do most of what I need to do.
The chain drive cogs do fail on them so I am hoping it will see me out for another month.
-
Leslie mate glad to see you
Truth to be told I knew you would be back ;) Plus the fact it wasn't the same without ya anyways!
Hmmm might look into a ping soon for long runs... Do you know if the ship has left yet? If so, it should be around 20 or so days from CA.
Also, not sure if you have arranged this with a company, if not - and you are doing this personally then once you have the bill of lading then call customs house http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5439.asp (http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5439.asp) and just check if you need to get this cleared. Hopefully you dont!
Saying this because I eluded to this in an earlier post that there has been and still is a pretty big crackdown on personal imports.
When you call customs house and they ask if the goods are personal effects, then say no as this is for when you have lived overseas and are sending your stuff back. I'd say they are replacement parts, and they are not of commercial value. This way you might get out of paying duty. Maybe mention that they are unavailable/company stopped selling them in Australia
I have something stuck with department of vehicle infrastructure that has been held in storage until cleared. Shipping yards are absolute vultures for this.... It's been 2 weeks now since I was told I needed this cleared, and sent my application... I'm paying for 1 cube (min) per day @ $80 per day...OUCH. ---- You get 5 days from when the container is unpacked because yours is not FCL (its LCL) then your 5 days starts from the day of unpacking. They tried to stitch me for these days too~!! arggh
This is a complete bike so is completely different from your wheels but just check because I've had trouble shipping in the past 2 years.
Oooh I think I'm excited that your pies are coming too lol
cheers mate

I would much rather cats than children any day, having children sounds like sooooooo much pain! ;)
I think neutered Toms are very gentle natured, Neutering is a must with them I think. You certainly can't have a un neutered tom in the house, They stink! If you bring them up as kittens they can be very affectionate. But mine are completely spoiled, And very domesticated!
Here they are, don't they look snug! heheheh
-
Leslie, 3 children triplets OMG how to you cope?
I'm glad we don't have big spiders or snakes here, I would go insane!
I don't think I will be on my bike for a while, the weather is too bad now. So that's it for a while anyway! me sad :'(

Very cute!
I discussed the cat thing with my children and their mother and everybody seems to have a longing for cats.
I think these conversations in English are extremely fun as I really must concentrate when I write. Also there are words every now and then I don’t understand or words I thought I did understand but still don’t get what you mean. I had to think twice to get “neutered Tom” but now I’m certain that’s something I don’t wish for myself. ;) If it is what I think it is we had one of those and we both think they are the loveliest cats.
Peter
-
LOL Peter you are a funny chap!
If you decide you have enough children, then you can decide if neutering is an option LMAO ;)
We never let them out at night in summer, and only for an hour or two in winter when it gets dark much earlier, they come back earlier!
In summer they go out for a few hours in the day and come and go when they choose, they rarely go further than the garden, only at night to they want to roam!
Speaking of languages, I really should learn German. As of course, my girlfriend is German! ;D But she never speaks to me in German, and most people under 50 speak decent English over there, so I never thought it worth while! ::)
Okay I'm off to get some sleep. Night all

Yes my wife said it hurts to have children and men cant have children so I think youre lucky there..
Both my males are not deballed. They are both very placid and don't spray. The female is plain stripey cat like one of the males, and his sexual orientation is a little skewed. And we have the alpha male, hes placid too sits in one spot looking like he owns the house. Very proud boy he is. If they naughty I chase them outside and thats enough to teach them to behave.
You know in China its become very acceptable to get sterilized and you can swing trouble free. But in Australia the Gov are almost pushing us onto our wives cheering behind us.
Strange world this is.
-

Hmm I'd say under 30 lol when I was in Frankfurt for a couple of weeks last year, it was a bit hard sometimes getting around but then again that is not a very good example of a nice place to be in Germany haha
What struck me was the young beggars that were teenagers and above could beg for money in like 4 languages!! One guy following me walking next to me was asking me in german, then french, then italian then english! So I replied in spanish and he spoke some spanish too lol. I gave him 5 euro for his efforts lol
It was a very dank and somewhat scary experience however, I did love the country side and can't wait to go back and see some more in another trip
Well thats a bit off topic but got me thunkin me wants to go back to Germany again ;)

Thanks for the heads up. This coming via post. The rims and motors have been taken apart and sent separate. Three different pakages so they will look like replacement parts. And in so many ways they are replacements as one of my two HBS hubs, one is melted and the other is getting a little dated.
I wouldn't be lying if I was to say the parts aren't available here in OZ as our AU dealer seems to be pretty quiet. Has no products to view on his web site and what not.
They magic question, are these personal effects, you give me 20/20 hind sight here as I would assumed they were. Then you open a pandoras box of paper work unknowingly.
Sure they are looking for drugs and stuff, but I just want my gear. I really don't care about drugs coming overseas to be honest. Its their paranoia not mine so why should I pay for it.

I think I am in the clear. Purchase was under $1000 AU and aint on this list.
I think knives is a little unfair. Like what would some one do import a knife to kill someone or just pull one out of the kitchen draw. Or hang on, send a murder weapon out of the country through customs as a means of disposal. doh.
They should put human body parts on the list, Hmm maybe Ive been watching too many gangsta and scary movies. Maybe thats where the movie phrase comes form "I will mail your body parts all over the world" as far as the above list is concern you don't need to self asses this.
Antibiotics Fish and toothfish
ANZAC Fly swatters/mosquito bats - electronic

Ahh blood diamonds. What a crock.
I wouldn't take a South African diamond even if it was even free. As they are all blood diamonds from South Africa IMO.. I don't wear jewelery its a worthless vanity I teach my kids the same.
I think Im in the clear home and hose. But that was worth looking into.
Cheers.

Well its good you items are separate, I really wish my motors were sent separate as I found this out afterward. This would have cleared any problems for me.
Anyways when the ship landed, there was an electronic clearing method. Because one of the invoices said 'Hybrid Bike' which was a pedal, electric bike they requested, and required me to fill in this application:
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/Application.aspx (http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/Application.aspx)
It's pretty much for cars, but there is the section for power assisted bicycles, petrol or electric rated at over 200w. It's a declaration and the fact you have to pay $50 for it is ridiculous because you can import full bikes over 200w for around $100 cost (crap ones)
So the 'processing' time is 15 working days as stated on the site, but I've been waiting since 16/08 so without crunching numbers they are nearly a week out. Storage is costing me nearly $100 a day and that's separate through the shipping yard!
Not a good experience at all haha but good education!
-
Damn! are they trying to protect some fledgling local industry or are they afraid of burning less oil or of having a low-cost form of personal transportation available to a public they want to keep on bus routes?
Here in Kalifornia the cops commented on my bike being electric but did not even write that into the police report of it getting totalled by a teenage driver failing to yield.
-
Hmmmm so they didn't even acknowledge on paper it was electric! Noooo, well I hope their insurance covered everything and the police possibly wrote "custom super carbon fibre extremely rare material bike" or something along those lines ;)
I was in LA last year but didnt make it to the coast. Still kicking myself now so I'm coming back next year and doing a bigger tour of the states. I love the US.
Anyways no, its just a standard vehicle import registry that is generally overlooked, but can sometimes arise.
So I will elaborate a little - I am now starting an electric vehicle business in Melbourne Australia. I have imported my first 4 sample model full bikes. I received 3 in one shipment no problems via my customs broker. The second shipment was a single full bike. I didn't use a customs broker and just went through the shipping yard. They asked for my bill of lading, invoice etc. Then the next day or so they asked for a photo of the bike. Soon after I was instructed to complete that application. I'm still waiting to this day.
So the ship arrived, and the cost of storage is between $80-$100AUD per cubic meter, per day.
I'm up for sh!tloads lol
Assuming I was picked up with the second shipment for the fact I had a similar import description and this rang some bells. It's a bad unforeseen experience overall
-
Then how do you run a business like this if all the vultures are looking at getting their soiled claws over the profit margins. You run your business to pay them to store your merchandise.
Monkey, how do you plan on bypassing these parasites? Maybe importing parts will get you further?
-
Yes I am planning to have the hub motors sent separately rendering the bikes as plain bicycles
-
Silly how you have to pull something to pieces to make it so much cheaper.
Anyway here is Kit Cat. Our alpha Tom cat.
And Boots. The other tom cat.

Even though you give them their own cat bed they still prefer to sleep elsewhere.

LOL
One of our cat "Kit" sleeps in the hand basin under the tap outlet in summer. I don't want to wash my face in a cats bed so to taught it a lesson. I turned the tap where it slept one day.
We were reading comments on dealxtreme. Some of those Asians have a wonderful sense of humor. The Dog/Cat socks. OMG they had us in tears laughing.

Sound Activated Electronic Shock Bark-Stop Collar for Dogs (Bark Control)
Pros: My dog stopped barking! In fact, he didn't want to go outside anymore :) Now he has two electronic shock things on his neck (invisible fence is the other).
Cons: The collar stopped working after 3 months or so. I opened the case, and the transformer had fallen off the board. This most likely occured when the dog shakes himself. The maker of this collar needs to glue the transformer in place. I am going to buy another collar, and apply hot glue to the transformer before I let the dog wear it.

We weren't sure whether to laugh or cry with this review. Im sure the reviewer was exaggerating these claims. However you can have your dog legally surgically debarked in Australia and obliged to do this by the local council if your pet is causing too much noise.

OMG!!!
DON’T LIKE
I had a neighbour’s female cat visiting me almost everyday. She was extremely reserved for people as a former neighbour had kicked her, but for some reason she liked me. Unfortunately she has dumped me and no longer come to visit, nor will she answer my calls or at least explain to me what I’ve done wrong. Maybe I’ll have to look around for a new cat although my heart is aching. ;)

Cats have their own mind. Sometimes their owners may worm them and they are not so hungry every day.
We had a problem where my daughter would feed them outside and the other cats around would steal their food and they started not coming home. It took a little while to figure out what was going on as we would feed them plenty and worm them and they kept loosing weight..
We feed them inside now even though they make a mess.. With the childrens left overs they always get a lot to eat. I just gave them two chicken carcasses and 300 mls of milk tonight. They will eat it all up by tomorrow..
Oh BTW when I turned the tap on him it was summer as its cool in the hand basin and it can reach 48 deg C (118F) in summer here so I wasnt worried about him catching a cold or anything.
