Title: does 4 year old brushless motor work with new cruise controller?
Post by: tex tiles on August 30, 2010, 11:14:48 PM
Hi,
I have a kit on my bike that is an older version with a brushless motor. My throttle died and I decided to buy a new controller with the cruise control at the same time. Is my 4 year old brushless motor compatible with the new controller? (I hope so because I already bought it.) Any suggestions to the hookup?
Thanks, Pete

As long as your older motor is
a sensored brushless motor
(3 power plus 5 hall sensor wires)
then the magic controller will work fine.

I hope you took the trouble to get the one that
is configured for your wheel power rating.

A 1000W controller on a 500W wheel is just asking for
overheating.

Here is a picture of the motor and the controller. The motor is 36 volt, I believe 500 watts. The controller is the current GM model. I don't know how many watts the controller is. My battery is a GM lithium 16 amp 36 volt.

The phase  of your motor must be 120°,then it can easy to match with our cruise controller.
