Hi do these lights have voltage regulator built in ? because all I see on sire is this.....
Front LED Light - 36V
Item Number ACC-001
Led's will not handle excess voltage not like motors !! Please advise
Thank you !
-
Sure they can easy
Upto 100/400VDC+ with a zener diode and a resistor that most are built with
Otherwise I'm sure GM would cater for all of there battery ranges including 24&48
yay
-
Thanks you say they are in the products when you buy them on line !
Because there are no Electronic shops in the Jungle !!! ;D
-
Okay so let's just get some clarity here.
STOP being so negative about GM.
Of course the lights they sell on their website work with their battery ranges (24 to 48v)
In fact it does state this, maybe you overlooked this and possibly should look a bit harder next time before throwing "!!!" left right and center with your 'jump to conclusion' impulsive posts.
My bet is you arn't even buying one and just adding another negative post to your total. I'll rant on a bit here because I'm a bit tired of frequent, unnecessary negative posts on the forum and I think the best thing for you to do is to travel the small amount of distance from the 'jungle' to the city and purchase a beginners book on electronics. This will teach you skills and knowledge such as adding a resistor to a LED so the current and voltage is limited to a certain range. You will also learn about zener diodes and other attributes and functionality of components that date back near a century ago.
I lived in the Venezuelan amazon for 6 months. Now that is a jungle. GM Brazil will second this as his jungle is even more dense down there. You will never see an electronics shop however, you can get anything your heart desires sent to the jungle and most of it actually has phone and 3g internet service range. Your not that remote mate.

I lived in the Venezuelan amazon for 6 months.
The Thaialien strikes again! :D
Wow in the jungle with the magic monkeys, did you feel at home there. JKe (Monkey Magic)
Man you get around. Where else have you been. I live in suspense wondering what places you've been to.
Dont worry about Thiaalien he is an aging harmless soul in general. I do wish he would put something useful towards the community. In light of all my troubles, I cant talk but maybe I needed a longer break.
I do have my issues and over analyze situations.
Id like to see actually how bright the GM light is in a picture. Has anyoine got one of these working and the right gear to give us proper representation?
Thanks.

Thank you !!!
Perhaps Monkey Magic is not one of the 3 monkeys ! he does go on doesn't he !
And maybe I have bought more personal GM products than he knows !!! ;D ;D ;D
-
Monkey Magic may not be the biggest GM buyer on earth I think GM CA would be in the top 3. But don't underestimate the cheeky Monkey's abilities my friend.
For a young soul hes got a lot packing in the brains department. We are fortunate he spends any of his his time here.
As for you and the tree wise Monkeys. You certainly Speak, See and Hear Much.
If this as good as it gets from you I am relieved.
And I am rather starting to warm to your trolls. Every forum must have one of you I feel.
Welcome to GM forums Thaialien. ;D

Well I cant help it if my magic cloud comes out sometimes :P

40 amps at 110v. Ha! One more amp at that voltage = 110 watts more. Scary volts that is. 8)

They never learn !
Well they still seem to have short circuit in there heads THE GIF about 15 RPM ! speed it up or shut up !
Scary Volts !!! :-\ try working on 3.3kv been there done that! ;D ;D ;D And no Smoke !!! ::)
May be you need to go back to your silo and keep the lid down ! And wait till someone has higher Authority to say you can speak! ;D ;D ;D

3.3kv.
What at 1 amps, this is possible but plausable?
So show us your action Thaialien. Id like to see your 3.3kv bicycle. Or is this a train you rode on in your dreams?
LDL.

As usual who said ebike ? YOU ! follow the train of thought ! try Carrier ! uhmmmmm you do know how to use the Internet !!! just Trawl!!! ;D ;D ;D

Now I'm upset (http://www.arhservices.co.uk/GoldenMotor/emoticons/everyday_sad_230608.GIF) you have insulted my animation and I am compelled to respond in an appropriate manner:
For your information, the actual speed of the wheel is controlled by the throttle, as you twist the throttle the wheel will begin to spin faster:
(http://www.arhservices.co.uk/GoldenMotor/mp6t.GIF) (http://www.arhservices.co.uk/GoldenMotor/mp6h.GIF)
Slight throttle Increased throttle
If you find this concept too difficult to understand, don't worry, because you should get the hang of it with a little bit of practice.
Perhaps there should be a mention of this in the user guide to save any further confusion.

Thaialien Strikes again.
Again all troll and no action.
We see his 3,3kv cycle on youtube.
He thinks he built the Killacycle and even that is only 312 volts. Oh maybe he doesn't even know what a 3.3kv means Or maybe he means Kv RPM per volt.
-
LOL
I'm just laughing because the content is beginning to sound like it's coming out of my cloud!
And I feel compelled to respond with my dual drive lol who says monkeys don't have fun? :D

I take your anti-monkey comments and raise them 2 fold. Hungry? ;)

They seem to work fine on any voltage. I have been using the same front and rear 36v LED lights on my 48v bike for a year now with no issue.

Monkey your bike could double as a high powered winch. Or used to pull cows out of mud pits.
Any other uses we could think of?
-
Monkey are you using those pedal as a stand? :o
::) Oh dear.
When I tried using a 26" fork on the DYNO bike I could move the rear shock back along its mount to make it higher. The balance improved but still want good enough so I too moved back to 20" fork.
I keep thinking you still wont like it if you raise the back. The fork and head set angle looks good to me.
Here is a good place to start.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_and_motorcycle_geometry#Steering_axis_angle
Some handy link at the bottom of this wiki link.
Maybe Alan can help with some bicycle geometry too..
-
HAha nooo but you did make me laugh thinking that, you nearly can use the pedals as a stand!
I bought a new stand for it, it holds it up near upright and pretty strong. Much better than the bent 24" stand I was using that would poke me in the leg from time to time.
It's actually only really unsafe if I am riding one foot down same side as the corner and it will clip the ground. I pretty much ride with the pedals mid way the whole time. LOL the pedals don't do a thing unless I'm not using the motors now, so they might as well be painted on ;)
Anyways this has just prompted me to buy a hole tap from ebay and tap the pedals higher on the cranks then I'll just grind the cranks off
I think you are right about the head angle, it sits perfect for me now so maybe I'll throw the spring idea out and just tap the pedals.
I think it suits it well sitting so low to the ground though haha ;) it's a bit different
-

That's not going to be as easy as you think, as they are different threads on each side. The right hand pedal has a right hand thread and the left hand pedal has a left hand thread. They're done like that to prevent the pedals from undoing themselves during use.
Alan
-
Hmmm so you mean I built a dual drive for nothing !!!
You could have said something sooner Alan geeez lol :D
Hmmm can't I just tap it from the other side of the crank on one side?
cheers
-

Unfortunately the thread will still be the same regardless of which side you thread it from.
Can you get hold of a shorter crank set from a kids bike that might fit your frame?
Or simply lengthen the forks like I did, I've got loads of clearance underneath my pedals now!

Alan
-
Dang... I thought so haha
It doesn't actually bother me unless I am pedaling absent minded around a corner and clip the ground. At worst it would fling the pedal back anyway.
Hey Alan where do you have batteries on your beast? Do you have some in the forks? That would be awesome.
Also it would be cool to ride tandem with you lol
I'm sure there would be some alternate cranks I could use, the bike shops I have been to just shake their head but I'm thinking its too small of job for them and usually are jealous that I have something they haven't seen knowing 'everything' about bikes and all.
I'll search around for a kids 20" mountain bike, surely theres something around I can make fit!
cheers
-
This isn’t really a problem since taps in those sizes are available for £15 to £20. As usual the problem comes down to money. :D

All these dual pie pictures make me want to throw mine in!
Gary

At worst it would fling the pedal back anyway.
I disagree, at worst it could fling you right off the bike!
I actually saw this happen once, I was following a guy on a motorbike who had been stopped in a lay-by just before he pulled out in front of me.
We approached an "S" bend and he negotiated the right bend without problem, but as he entered the left bend and started to lean into it, his side-stand (which he'd forgotten to lift up) hit the ground and threw him off completely.
Fortunately he was not badly injured, and only suffered a few scrapes and bruises. It could have been a lot worse if there had been oncoming traffic where he landed.
Most motorbikes nowadays have a switch on the stand, which cuts the motor if the clutch is released while in gear with the side-stand down.
Hey Alan where do you have batteries on your beast? Do you have some in the forks? That would be awesome.
Unfortunately it's pedal power only at the moment, those pies are just photoshopped. :(
The forks are not large enough to get any decent sized cells into as they are only 1" external diameter stainless steel tube.
I thought about a purpose made backrest with some LiPos built in, but the weight would be too far back.
I also thought about a dummy petrol tank to hide the batteries inside, but it might be much easier to mount it on the forks in a cylindrical leather tool bag:
or a tubular pack mounted down the front of the frame similar to this but on the underside of the downtube:
One day, I will eventually get it sorted. ::)
Alan
-
Oh sneaky haha
So what ride are you on at the moment? You must be hanging to get your cruiser on the road
I like the leather pouch idea, and you have some room underneath the bikes before the fork clearance
Will be good to see it on the road :)
-
So what ride are you on at the moment?
I'm currently riding this old Saracen with nice fat tyres to help compensate for the lack of suspension:
(http://www.arhservices.co.uk/GoldenMotor/Mybike-1.JPG) (http://www.arhservices.co.uk/GoldenMotor/Mybike-1.JPG)
I've used the old 26" front wheel that came off the other bike when I lengthened the forks as it has a deep "V" rim which I painted black to match the GM rim on the rear.
I run it mainly on a 25.9V 10Ah Turnigy LiPo pack (7S2P) slung in the right hand pannier, which gives me a top speed of around 15mph, which is ideal for dog walking. (and legal too!) ;)
I occasionally use it on 51.8V 5Ah (14S), but at 25mph Heidi struggles to keep up. ;D

For your information, the actual speed of the wheel is controlled by the throttle, as you twist the throttle the wheel will begin to spin faster: ANS can you get a tacho and a voltmeter /amp next to it too truely represent Magic Pie ! PS do Magic Pies have ventilation system in them ?

But good to see some of you are awake !!! how many post in 24 hours ?
if only GM worked as hard as you lot !! :o :o :o
-
Hey you Guy's running dual motors how about one of you doing a test !!!
drive one motor and see what regen is on the other say at 300Rpm (i know this is wastefull of power but gives a good idea of what power % can be reclaimed ?
< I wonder what the dual motor on full regen braking is like without using disk brakes or other braking device >
was thinking of putting sounder on the brake so to help training of regen braking distance !!! for max regen ! and other brakes for when you automatically need it!!
Good to see Good Idea's and Nice Bikes !! :) :) :)
And I can't wait for one of you to make a Magic Pie Yikebike :) :) :)
