Title: R1 resistor - 36V 250W Brushless Standard Controller
Post by: barmy on March 17, 2010, 07:58:07 AM
Hi
unfortunately I cooked my 36V 250w standard brushless controller I bought last year...  :o

I opened it up and from the first look it's only the first ceramic resistor "R1" that is burned  :( ..
unfortunately I cannot read the specs because it's burned!

Can someone tell me please the specs of that resistor??? or schematics?

it would be very easy to replace and worth a try!

Please help me!
Thanks alot
Mike

Can you post some specs pics?

Usually those power resistors are in the 150/350 ohm range to take the edge off the the high voltage of the pack to the logic and fet driver regulators.

They supply either an LM317t or a LM7812 and LM7805 and take the voltage down by 10v (150 ohm) or so for a 36v controller and (350 ohm) 22v or so 350ohm for 48v.

The output needs to achieve 60ma.

Use at least 3 watt resistors.  The load is around 500ohm, but check the load to see if it is something else causing this resistor blow.  500 ohms is a good ball park figure for testing the load for regulation.
