Title: Disabling regen mode on OLD regen controller
Post by: caradec on September 23, 2009, 12:55:50 PM
Hi everybody,
I have a regen braking controller (in fact 2 ones, 36V + 48V, not the magic version but a 2 years old model), that I had brushed aside because I found it useless  >:( : throttle hard to balance, no way to use pedals only, braking far too strong. But now, since my standard controller doesn't work anymore, I have connected my trike 16" hub motor with this regen controller.
Of course, its defects are still present, and even more heavy, due to the small wheel size : as soon as I release the throttle (eg to change gears), the bike stops very brutally, and often the tire slips.
So I really need to deactivate the braking effect, ie the regen function, and that's where I need some help : do you think it is possible, and how can I manage ?
Thank you.

Hi Caradec:
If you have the Bac0200 model, yes you can disable the regen function just adding a switch that shorts the small blue cables.  see wiring diagram
http://www.goldenmotor.com/e-Bike-DIY/BLDC%20Regen%20Controller%20Wiring%20Diagram%200807.pdf
I used to use it even while in motion.  So if you need to brake hard you close the switch.  I have read about someone how even have another throttle for variable regen function, so the more throttle the more it regens.  But I don't know how to do this... sorry

Hi Robertozm,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, my controller has no blue wire. I guess it is an older version.
Maybe the regen can be disabled inside the box, by cutting or shorting something, even if it is definitive ? Does anybody know ?

Here is a picture of my controller. Do you see a wire that can be shorted in order to deactivate the regen ?
