Hi everyone! Tested my two Golden conversion kits today.

Hi!

I´m from Sweden and I recently received 2 conversion kits.

After I installed one of em, I´was quite disappointed when I realised the wheel rim was eggshaped  >:(
result from poorly packaging and the airshipping method must be really bumpy.

I went away and wrapped it up anyway and gave it a testrun. I was supprised how little torque a 500w motor gives. and the motor made this klicking sound when I  pulled the throttle. (only does that with load on)

After reading the forums I noticed some of you guys have had broken halleffect sensors hence the jerking no torque effect.
OK I thought lets try the other motor....

exactly the same clicking sound and not much torque.

Have I gotten 2 faulty motors or what?

will try to test if one of the halleffect sensors are bad.

Start by reading this. Where did the shipment originate from, Shanghai, Singapore, the USA, Canada or the UK?

May be too late to go for the shipping company on the rim. Take some pictures. Post them here. Copy the above to Philip at sales@goldenmotor.com along with the pictures.

it says
origin: changzhou -> china

on the shipping note.

I can handle the eggshaped rim, but I don't like the rattle when the bike takes off.
and the acceleration is very slow.(just to make it clear I´m not fat ;) )

Exactly how bad would it run if a halleffect sensor is broken?

I have the regen controller

Oh!  ??? That may be a whole different story. You have to program the regen controller. (Sorry, I probably need to update the manual. ) Done!

1. With power disconnected, short or jump the purple and black leads on the controller.

2. Connect power.

3. Turn throttle slightly for a second or two.

4. Decide if this is the proper setting. (normal operation)

5. If yes, then remove short from black and purple leads on the controller. You are now good to go. Controller will remember setting.

6. If not repeat at step three.

There are 12 possible phase sequences. If you do not find the right one within 12 tests then the problem could be a Hall effect sensor, though unlikely on two motors, or just a bad connection. Look for bent pins in the connector especially.

Hey myelectricbike, I also think it would be a great idea in updating the installation maual since more people are opting for the regen controller. (if I bought one and didnot know the posted info I would be lost) :o :o

This sounds more likely.
Because I tested both my controllers on seperate motors.
seems to unlikely that I have two faulty motors/controllers.

I´ll test the different phase seq and i´ll report what happens.

Should the wheel be in the air during this operation or with me on the bike?

Normally on the ground but the procedure should still work otherwise. Just be sure to remove the jumper as soon as the right phase sequence is found. A very common mistake is to disconnect power first instead.

I have just read your updated instructions on the regen controller.  Would you pls clarify the following:

4. Decide if this test gives you the proper phase sequence for the motor. (Motor will operate normally without sputter and in the forward direction.)

Does this mean the motor will operate normally with only one of the 12 available phase sequences?

It means the regen controller will cycle through each of the 12 possible phase sequences one at a time with each engagment of the throttle. When the right one is detected instead of engaging the throttle again remove the jumper instead.

So the controller detects the correct setting?  Or I have to stop engaging the throttle (and remove the jumper) when its in the right setting?  How do I tell the right setting from the others?

Only one setting is correct and is distinctive enough to be determined by user comparison with the other eleven.
