Title: 36v in a 48v kit

Hello everybody,
I have found a topic about 48V in a 36V kit, but not the other way : to test my wiring, can I try (at least for a few minutes) to run my 48V motor with a 36V battery ? I suppose so, if the controller cut off is not too high (my battery reaches 42V).
Do you think ther is a safe way to do that ? Using 48 or 36V controller with the 48V wheel ?

The cut-out voltage on the Golden 48 volt controller is 4 x 10.5 volts or 42 volts.

You are right Myelectribike : I have just tried it ; it worked a few seconds, then it stopped. The battery level is 41,5V.
Do you think it is safe to use the 36V controller under 36V supply with the 48V wheel ?

Since it appears you have no shorts then safer than with 48 volts but of course less RPM. Even with a short you should be okay since the controller has over current protection. Just monitor what you are doing closely and be ready and able to disconnect in case the shutdown circuit is defective.
