Magic Pie 3 build

motor chugs when thumb throttle pressed, doesn't move, then goes.

regenerative brake is not working. 

MP3 cable doesn't fit motor plug, so I can't configure controller.  (not a Magic Pie 3)

How do I identify the motor?
