forward/reverse rotation
« on: July 24, 2007, 05:05:18 AM »
is there an option to reverse the rotation of this motor. I have this kit and plan to install on 3-wheeler bike. I like to have an option to run forward but also can run in reverse for easy maneuver.
thanks, ricel

Yes with the new regenerative controller. It not only has reverse but a power phase analysis mode in case you want to use it with another brand of motor.

Yes, one for reverse and one (protected) for the analysis mode. If you can't get an immediate response from Golden sales, since they are busy setting up a new customer service center in Shanghai as I am told, you can make payment via PayPal for $78 plus $10 shipping and handling to ebike@verizon.net. Be sure to include your FedEx confirmed shipping address and contact phone number with your payment.

How does it work?  Does this reverse mode work with the regular throttle control?

No, unfortunately it is not available with the standard controller... but you can wire your phase power and sensor leads through a six pole, two position rotary switch to accomplish the same thing. I, however, recommend purchasing the regenerative controller.

i saw the renegerative controller pict inthe golden motor website, but not detailed enough about the forward/reverse connection. can you eleborate further how this new regen controller can reverse the rotation. will golden motor provide the wiring diagram and corresponding switch connection. I would appreciate if you can give me the details before buying it. thanks

Its not hardwired.

All of the hardware (mosfets) is under software control via a microcontroller.

The software merely reverses the firing order. You can simulate this by using a spreadsheet.

Consider that you have 3 spark plugs with only 2 firing at a time.

Enter each possible combination into a spreadsheet

Forward starts at the top and goes through the list to the bottom.

Reverse starts at the bottom and goes to the top.

if it sofware controlled there need to be an external signal wired to switches for logic 0/1 to reverse the direction right?

Its just a covered or protected on/off microswitch rated for 5 volts and 20 milliamps or more.

myelectricbike thanks for all the clue you gave, I finally get it running after a series of factorial experiment of hall effect sensors vs. phase lead wriing.
