no beeps?
« on: April 10, 2010, 10:54:08 AM »
hello,

I just bought a Magic Pie but I can't get it to work.
when I connect the batteries (2 x 12 sla) a little spark comes from the connector but no beeps of the motor.
the leds on the throttle light up and my voltmeter tels me 25.4 V.
i also tried 36V but the problem stays the same.
i'm new with this stuff an I hope its just a stupid mistake made by me  ::)
do you guys have any idee?
i hope you can help me!

jan

Some controllers need to have PAS disabled or pinned on all the time.  Or at least connected and working.

Does the beep come from the horn or the motor?

Bring it on

Hi andto the forum Jan.

Double check that all the connectors are properly connected. If it's still the same, try plugging in the other throttle unit to see if it makes any difference.

If it still doesn't work, try disconnecting the blue brake switch connector and see if it then works.

Let us know the results of these tests.

Leslie, this should not be necessary with the Magic Pie.

thanks for fast reaction!

to 317537: I mean there is no sound at all, by reading the other posts, I think it should beep 3 times wen only power is connected?

to Bikemad: I didnt bought the complete set but only the motor with 1 throttle and a multi button "thing". it came from devi-comfort in holland.
thats also a problem because the connenctors don't connect, so I have to solder the connections.

when I connect the brake cutoff wires and spin the wheel I can feel the resistance so think that works...

Jan, try the suggestion on the attachment below and see if the motor spins.
A reshaped paper clip should do the job, but make sure you only use the two outer holes on the middle row.

This will bypass any poor or incorrect connections on the harness and controls.

I have attached a diagram showing the connection on my Magic Pie as it may help you to check your connections if necessary.

I should mention that the three beeps are only there when there is a fault with the throttle.
Mine does not beep at all when the power is turned on.

If you have solderd any of the connection cable make sure they are all good.
My cables broke when pulled on, not hard but it shows that the koper wire isn't strong.
Try the bypass and if the motor does spin at full throttle(probably) then it is a connection problem in your wiring harnas.
I had the same problem and ordered new wires.

Jan, send an email to Tom (zhourenli@goldenmotor.com) explaining your problem and also tell him that your motor does not run, even when tested using a piece of wire to bypass the main harness, thottle, brake & cruise controls etc.
